Day 63 and 64 morning

Today is day 64.  I missed meeting my exercise goal of lifting on Aug 2.  However, it was my birthday and I'll make some allowances there.  If I had the day to do over, I would have lifted first thing in the morning.  I had the time then but thought I would have time later. Yesterday was an exercise of my choice, and I took the dogs to the forest.
Yesterday after walking the dogs, I went to the coast.  It was much cooler there and a relief from the heat of the valley. At a restaurant connected to a brewery/distillery located across the bay, I had lunch with a friend.  After we placed our order, the waiter set two small glasses of beer on the table and said here's a free sample of our latest brew. I was a bit surprised by the serving of the sample without asking if we wanted one.  My friend doesn't drink either. We put them to the side.  It was a non-issue.  Lunch went on.  It was nice.
This restaurant is a place for the brewery/distillery to display their wares.  This was the first time I'd eaten there.  I've eaten at the brewery itself a number of times in the past.  There was at that time no serving of samples there. I've been out of things for a few years and now not only are they brewery but a distillery as well, so when we walked up to pay our bill, there were these very unique and interesting bottles of rum, whiskey, vodka, and gin all locked behind glass with a sign that said spirits to go.  This did draw my attention.  I acknowledged my interest and let it run its course and then let it go.  It involved all of about a minute at most.
These moments are so involved.   Hmmm.....I hate to compare it to something like this but it's the only thing I can think of to compare it to.  It's almost like a creative flow moment where time seems to stop or elongate.  Reminding myself of the actual time I took in dealing with these moments is really important.  It was a minute at this time or it was a half a block on this other day or it was just the time it took to pass the liquor store by while driving.  By marking the actual time rather than the perceived time helps me keep these moments in perspective.
This is the last day of a three day weekend.  What a difference the extra day makes for body and mind.  I feel really good and knowing I have one more day is great.
Today is day 64.  I am committed to making a life change.  I do not drink.  I am the tree, not the leaves.  I am the mountain.  It is day 64 and I am solid.

Impressive!!!

For me, on the positive side of that compression or elongation of time phenomenon the same thing happens when we exercise or meditate. Actually, the two can occur at the same time. Our mind and emotions are often in a better place afterwards, (spirituality????).

I used run a lot further when I was younger. People would ask me what do you think about for 90 minutes. Everything and nothing at all. It rarely seemed like an hour and a half...

Thank you.

I was reluctant to compare the two because I have had positive experiences with flow. I don\'t know....maybe to experience that flow like time at these moments is a good thing. I haven\'t bought or drank. The outcome has been positive. Thanks again.
