Day 5 of stimming for IVF
Hello ladies,
I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday! I just started mine with a cup of coffee at my desk so I decided to log in and journal before I get my work day started.
So this is day 5 of stimming, I'm half way there until we start the ovudril and then the retrieval. I must admit, I'm very nervous about his whole thing. A part of me is excited but the other part is scared to death. I'm so afraid of this not working so I'm giving it to God and hopefully our miracle will happen next month. The injections have been fairly easy, they have me on 225 of Follistim and 150 of Menopur, the Follistim is a piece of cake but the Menopur hurts like an SOB! I had my first scan yesterday and the RE said my follies aren't growng fast enough (there's eleven of them at 10 each) so they decided to triple the menopur to 225 as well. So not only did that triple my dose, but I had to scramble with the pharmacy who only mails me meds to get them here today on time, ugh, I feel like I'm running around like a chicken without a head these days.
As far as the side effects, I can already feel the bitchiness, the menopur makes me kinda dizzy and have headaches, anyone feel the same way on it? I'm trying not to get too worried about my follies not growing fast enough since it was only day 4 on stims and my body responded great for the IUI's. I just have to trust my doc and know that he's monitoring me closely.
So I've probably told more peope than I should have about the IVF, I'm just so dang excited, hopefully I don't regret it later. Oh well.....
I'm literally bloating in front of my eyes, I feel like a fat slob, sucks to feel like this and NOT be pregnant, I tell ya, when I'm pregnant, I'm going to flaunt my fab belly!
I'm also nervous about being put to sleep for the retrieval, I have no idea why but I'm afraid of "going to sleep", can someone please tell me that the retreivel is a piece of cake? ;P
Anyhoo, that's all I have for now, if you read this, thanks for reading my rant, just random thoughts!

YAY!! Half way there! You will pretty much be done stimming when I start on Friday. I totally agree with you on the follistim being a piece of cake and the Menopur hurting. I am NOT looking forward to Menopur again. I\'m not looking forward to the side effects and bloating. That will probably be me next week. I\'ve already warned my husband about what is to come!
I do also hate \"going to sleep\", and only problem that I had (other than puking while \"sleeping\", which obviously I didn\'t know until I woke up and they told me that I might have crusties in my hair...lol) was the cramping I felt when I woke up. I got some pain meds and it went away quickly. You will be fine!
So excited for you :) Will you be transferring right away? Our 2WW might overlap by a few days....prayers for you!
YAY for stimming going so well! Don\'t panic too much about follies not growing fast enough, it\'s craziness how quickly those suckers get up to par in the very end. I was never on menopur, but did the the follistim, which was easy, but i would get headaches and bitchiness every time i stimmed, regardless of the meds. Estrogen kicked my butt. And It\'s very common to not like the \"going to sleep\" part. However, I did my retrieval completely awake, and you will be very glad that you were put to sleep, becauseTHAT sucks. I can\'t wait to hear how retrieval goes and thanks for checking in I was wondering about you!
The retreival is easy! The hardest part was the pinch from the IV for the meds. Once they start the IV you\'ll be asleep in two seconds. Having been put out for 3 surgeries in the past 10 months I can tell you the retreival is a piece of cake and only last for maybe 30 mins. I even woke up during the procedure and was supposedly talking to the dr and then towards the end of my retreival I woke up again when he was getting the last follicle out. It pinched a little but nothing major LOL. You will feel some cramping when you wake up but it\'s not bad. If you get nauseous easily tell them to give you something for the nauseousness before hand so that you don\'t throw up during or after the procedure.
As for the stim side effects I took the same meds as you but didn\'t experience any bad symptoms. I was energetic, happy and felt really good except for the majoy bloating! My estrogen levels were really high which is probably why I was so hyper the whole time. Good Luck honey! You\'ll do great you\'re almost half way done!
you are in the home stretch!! I was on follitism and menopur my last cycle and the menopur stings I had to get upped halfway through then it seemed like stuff started to happen. The ER is a piece of cake as long as you don\'t have trouble being put to \"sleep\" you will be fine. Can\'t wait to hear how many eggs they get at ER!
Yay! Retrieval is a piece of cake! My first one I had amazing dreams, it felt like the best sleep of my life. It was slightly disorienting though because you feel like you just fell asleep and then someone is waking you up right away. Menpur stings! My RE had me mix it in with the other meds, that helps with the sting and you only have to stick yourself once! But since you are not mixing them together, I found slow but steady made it sting less, then a little ice on it afterwards helped. Can not wait to hear about your next us! You will be surprised how all of a sudden its like your follies explode with growth and you have more than you expected by the end.
Yeah don\'t worry about the follies- like Nellysgirl said, it is amazing how quickly they can change. The retrieval isn\'t bad. I was suppppper anxious about it but you literally feel like you blink your eyes and you are done. I was not put to sleep though, just so groggy you don\'t know what is going on. I did not feel sick after. After the 2nd one, I was pretty sore (it was a different dr from the 1st so I don\'t know if technique had anything to do with it but I also heard the eggs can be harder to get?).
So excited for you to be getting so close! Keep us updated! :)
So glad to hear your journey is moving forward and I am praying this leads to your miracle!!!!
I\'ve never had a retreival so I can\'t comment on that but I have done 3 rounds of Menopur....my best suggestion is to ice your belly for a good 1-2 minutes before injecting, it makes a huge difference for me! I also had a month that I wasn\'t responding \"fast enough\" so they doubled the dose for a couple days and boy did those babies grow fast after that!!!
The whole bloated/slob thing seems to be a popular theme around here, so know that you are not alone and hoping it pays off for ALL of us very soon!!!
Thank you so much ladies for your replies! You have no idea how much your support helps and all of you are actually getting me really excited!! I still feel like it\'s so surreal, Like I can\'t believe I\'m actually DOING THIS! This is crazy! I\'m praying this is it for us. Oh and I did talk to the nurse and she did say I can do two embryos, after they had told me one, I freaked! I\'d rather be safe than sorry!
So glad you updated us! Good luck doll!!
Hey there! I\'m also on day 5 of stims. This will be my 4th ICSI/PGD cycle. I\'m also on Menopur so know all about the crazy side effects!! When do you think your ER will be? It\'s looking like next Monday for me. Good Luck hun! Lets hope we both get BFP\'s! xx
Your follies will catch up. I went from 4 to 13 in a matter of days. Retrieval was easy but as soon as I woke up I wanted pain meds. Then I was uber bloated for a couple of days. Drink lots of Gatorade and get some rest afterwards. It will be over before you know it. Good luck!
