Day 26 morning

Today is day 26.  I am really close to a month.  I got off work right on time yesterday.  I walked from work to the store and got some things for dinner.  Then walked from the store to my truck.  This is the beginning of an old routine.  From here I would go to the liquor store.  I very much wanted to go yesterday.  I had to remind myself what that would mean.  It would not mean one drink.  It would not mean any of the good things I brought to mind.  It would be a step in a direction I do not want to go.
I am tempted to do many things in life.  I do not do all the things I am tempted to do.  Yesterday I was tempted to drink alcohol.  I did not.  Yesterday I was tempted to go to that wonderful sandwich place near work and I did.  I can choose my temptations.  Temptations are just that.  I decide what path to take.  Trouble comes when I think the temptations choose.  It comes again down to the 'I', the responsibility of the 'I'.
I choose not to drink.
 I choose a different path.
There is more refreshment and stimulation in a nap, even the briefest, than in all the alcohol ever distilled. -Ovid
Today is day 26.  I do not drink.  I am committed to making a life change.  I am the tree, not the leaves.  I am the mountain.  It is day 26 and I am solid.
