Day 14 - 2 Weeks Without Coke
Saturday was my 14th day in a row without drinking Coke. I would love it if I could go a whole month without having any. My only concern is that in this 2 week time period I seem to have been eating a lot more chocolate. I'm not too worried though; if I consume extra calories from candy I would rather do it enjoying a bar of chocolate, which will no doubt aid me in my journey through a frightful fibro flare. As it happens, I've discovered that some candy bars are not necessarily empty calories: a Caramilk bar contains 10% of the iron I would need in one day. As an Ulcerative Colitis patient I think I should keep this in mind when my iron gets flushed down the toilet.
My occasional chocolate bars and recent torment due to painful battles with constipation have made me more conscious of my fruit and vegetable consumption. I've managed to get some fruits and vegetables during 6 of the last 7 days. Sometimes I could only get 2 servings, other times 3, but today I was able to get 6 servings. I hope I can keep it up, and I think it certainly helps having Meals on Wheels.
