Day 1-3
Had my RNY on Friday in San Antonio, TX. My Surgeon was Dr. Steven Fath from Odessa, TX. Because of my insurance it was the closest facility I could have the surgery done. Ralk about a really great Doctor. No 2 week fasting, just getter done. The worst part was all the gas and gas pain. But now that is just a less than fond memory. Yesterday we drove 210 miles home. Awesome to be home Has a good night sleep and looking forward to the day.
Best advice for all having surgery is walk, walk and walk. The pain is from gas trapped in the abdomen and walking helps you get rid of it. Until you do you will be misrable

I had my RNY 8 days ago and gas pain is the worse thing and walking sure does help. Tomorrow i go to have the staples and drain out....only problem I am having now is the weakness..I worry I am not getting enough protein in..any suggestions?
are you taing any B-12? They have the sublingual at Walmart or Walgreens, any drug store. Really helps with the energy. I had problems at first wit hthe protein shakes, hated them. Finally found an unflavored one with Torani syrups that I can tolerate. Walmart has some Whey protein shots that are high in protein and you can add it to your water for extra protein. They are really sweet so you need to dilute them or have them over ice. Comes in watermelon, strawberry and a mixed berry I think. You will be tired for the first month or so. Rest when you can.
