Davy Jones and his love of the sea

Davy jones was a sailor in love with the sea... He once fell in love with a woman as untamable and wild as the sea; she made him captain of the flying Dutchman and charted him with a duty to ferry those that had died at sea to the underworld and in return for his service once every ten years he could set foot on land with the promise to find her waiting for him...
every ten years he would come to shore and find her waiting, for ten years he would sail the merciless seas travelling the four corners of the earth ferrying the dead to the underworld until one day after ten years at sea when he came ashore and his beloved was no longer to be found in wait...
So maddened with pain and furry was Jones that he screamed to the heavens cursing the heathen gods who had bestowed on him the captaincy of the Dutchman and in a bid to get rid of the pain and array of emotions he felt, Jones cut out his beating heart and put it in a chest along with all the letters and trinkets and memories he had of her and buried the chest on a deserted island.
Never again did Jones feel not love not compassion not fear swaying from the course set for the Dutchman reneging from his duties a once honorable man broke changing into a monster of the sea mutating into a hideous creature who knew neither mercy nor gave any respite and thus the Dutchman lost its path and purpose.
