Daughter's divorce final.
Yesterday, at 9:30 am, my daughter's 16 years of marriage ended. For all ends and purposes, both she and her ex are happy. I guess I am the one who is saddened by all of this. I did their wedding. I was there for the birth of their first child. I remember all the Christmas's we had with our joint families, all the birthdays we celebrated, all the fun we had through the years. Now, all of this is gone. Never to be again.
Her ex was not a bad man. He was not a drinker or a drug user. He was just an introvert and she was an extrovert and they just grew apart through the years. Neither of them were unfaithful to each other, while they were together. They went to counseling but still ended up separating. He moved back with his folks. While separated, he had an affair and that ended it for my daughter.
I pray that something good comes out of this for both of them. I feel so sorry for my 3 grand-kids. They are resilient and great kids but, I know this has affected them as well.
My mom told me something years ago and it is so true. She told me this little phrase:
"You never stop raising your kids"!!!!! Man, was she ever right.
I am just an aging dad and grand-dad who wants the best for his family. I love them so.

Parents will never never stop loving their children and want the best for them. We always want them to be happy, to be safe, to have a good life. It is a gift from God to show us if we earthly parents can love (conditionally sometimes) that much, how much Unconditionally love God gives us as we are His children. Your sad feeling is so valid.
We do have to realize there are things out of our control... esp. your daughter\'s love relationship. It is hers and she has to live her own life. Your only control is yourself, like what you have been doing.. to support her, to continue to love her (even though you may think it is a mistake of breaking up the marriage) but it seems they tried. Sometimes, love cannot be forced and we do grow apart.
Your grandkids will be fine. Yes they may not be raised in a tradition 2 parents home. In the past, I always worried about my son of being raised just by me without a fatherly figure, ... yet he grew to be a fine young man till he passed.
\"All will be well\"... trust in God and in your own loving care that administrate to them.
I AM SO SORRY ABOUT THIS PEEWEE. I CAN ACTUALLY HEAR YOUR HURT IN YOUR WORDS. MY HEART IS BREAKING FOR ALL OF YOU. MY KIDS ARE 27 AND 25 NOW BUT THEIR DAD LEFT US WHEN THEY WERE 6 AND 4 YRS OLD. YOU ARE SO RIGHT...OR YOUR MOM WAS...WE NEVER STOP RAISING OUR KIDS. SO LIKE YOU... IM AN AGING MOM AND GRANDMA WHO JUST WANTS THE BEST FOR MY KIDS AND MY GRAND CHILD AND IT JUST DOESNT GET ANY EASIER IT SEEMS. IM SO SORRY YOUR HURTING SO BAD. AS ALWAYS..IM PRAYING FOR YOU AND I PRAY THAT YOU GET SOME REST AND EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT FOR GOOD BECAUSE I KNOW YOU HAVE PUT EVERYONE INTO GODS HANDS AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL OF THEM.
