Darn Dang Damn-APPT DELAYED!!!!!!

Hello all,
I was supposed to have a pain MD appointment on APRIL 22, but I got a call on the 21, saying they were delaying it until April 29th!!!!!Isn't that amazing! The explanation that they gave was that the doctor that they had selected didn't do pain oriented medical management (at a pain clinic?)!   I said, "I want to speak to the manager!"  The lady said, "It is the manager who is having me call you."  I was livid.  I asked, "Why didn't you ask the nature of my visit when I made my appointment?"  She was silent.  I got the soonest appointment available.  In the meantime I have run out of pain pills, but fortunately, I still have my pain patch to wear.  I have begun to take Tylenol, which I hate to do because for me, it its hard on my kidneys.  I also am going to start to take Ibuprofen, again which I am not supposed to take because I take Coumadin, but I am desperate at this point.  I also got out my heating pad, also which I am not supposed to do, because I am recovering from skin damage from using it too much (I have Toasted Skin Syndrome).  I don' think I could have been any angrier.  When I go to the appointment, I am getting a ride, which is a good thing, because I am in a super lot of pain and it is a long ride, about an hour and a half each way. I thought about going to urgent care or the ER, but that's just drug-seeking and doctor shopping and I am not THAT desperate.  I will survive and I will be strong and carry on.
I will get over it.  I will pray and let serenity rule from here on out, now that I have vented.  I will take deep breaths and let peace and serenity reign in my mind.
At our house we now have a cleaning lady.  I love her  It took an extra week to get my bedroom and my day room ready.  Tonight is patch night so I am going to work on organizing some of my papers.  (For those who don't know, patch night is the night I put on my new fentanyl patch and I have the uncommon side effeect of complete insomnia).  With the whole house all clean I can also work on my Jewish conversion homework and my Hebrew homework as well.  Goody gumdrops!
I am sorry I haven't had more time to look around at what every one else has been saying and doing.  I meant to, but I counted it up and there have been only four or five weekdays this month where someone didn't have some sort of medical or therapy appointment.  It has been a really crazy month.  Here is to hoping that May settles down a little.
Much love,
Ayla

Hope you get some relief soon. Hate that you have to travel so far to see the doc. My ex used to use fetanyl patches for his back pain that surgery didn\'t fix. He would not be able to sleep too. HUGS!!

So sorry to learn about the appt delay, Ayla, especially when you\'re in pain! What a mess, but you\'re not alone. Sometime back I was told to see a pain specialist. get this...he said he couldn\'t help me. Ha! And I couldn\'t do anything about that \'cause it would look like I\'m a druggie. Had to wait ;til the springtime and better weather for someone to drive me an hour and a half away from where I live to see my rheumy. He knows exactly what my pain is all about and gave me an Rx. I\'m glad you have the patches, but wish you could sleep at night while using them. Nice you have a cleaning lady now to give you some extra time for yourself. :-) Hope you do well at organizing your papers and can get to your Jewish & Hebrew homework. Those are positive things, but doing them while you\'re supposed to be resting is not a good thing.I truly wish you the best. I congratulate you on staying so positive.
