Dang it's hot
The middle of Winter and yet it feels like one of those hot summer days, ugh! Everything's been pretty good though. I just graduated yesterday from my Retail Certificate II course. My course advisor/teacher told my mum at graduation how intelligent I was and that they're going to be using most of my submitted assessments as future references to show other students what they're supposed to submit. So that's pretty epic! My mum got pretty annoyed that while I've obviously got skills and an awesome intellect that I wasn't able to get a job. Well, THE job really. I went for a job interview to be a receptionist/team member at a job recruitment agency, and got a call the day before graduation saying that unfortunately while I did an excellent job in the interview they had selected someone else who they felt had more skills to offer. So yes, I feel a bit overlooked and of course it was a blow to my self esteem.
At the moment I'm just wondering what to do now. What road should I take? What do I want to do? I want to be a writer. I just get so overwhelmed sometimes with writer's block and my lack of self-motivation that it sometimes feels like a dream that's just never going to come true. I have the intellect but I just don't seem to be doing much with it.
Anyway I've put my name down for a Business Certificate III course. I really did enjoy learning and it's been great for my self esteem. I remember the first time I was to get some feedback on my assessments I was so scared. I had nothing to worry about though because there was nothing wrong. So I'm going to continue to take baby steps.
I'd really love to save up some cash and get into some creative writing courses. I know I would really excel at those. But this business course will be good too, because I really do need to learn Microsoft Office over again due to the new changes from the 2003 program to the 2007 one. And it's also going to teach me M.Y.O.B. which so many businesses are asking for in their applicants.
The course starts in October so I might keep a low profile in the outside world until then. Create some goal maps and find out where I want to go and just how to get there. Really I know I could do anything I want. I do have the intellect there. Am I settling for less by working in administration or in retail? That's what I always wonder. What if I'm settling for less than I could be?
Sure, I'm restricted now by what I can afford but that's not always going to be the case. I need to have a clear guide of what I want. So probably a lot of my future journal entries are going to talk about what I've discovered about myself and my future wants. I need to get some direction in my life, and I think a journal where I can look back and see what I thought is probably a really good idea at this point in time.
