Daisy

This past month has been painful. I lost my cat of twelve years to cancer. When the vet first told us she had cancer, she said she wasn't sure how much time we had with Daisy and to make her as comfortable. As time went on, Daisy was getting skinny, she refused to eat, her personality changed, she couldn't muster the energy to even walk. It was a very hard decision for my family and I to make. I could tell Daisy was in pain. The look on her face said it all. One time she was laying in my lap and she looked at me and stretched out her paw. If it was as if she was asking me for help. Her breathing was difficult and as much as we wanted to keep her for as long as we could, we couldn't do that to Daisy. We made the hardest decision if you know what I mean. Daisy's last moments were spent laying on my lap, and when my mom walked in the door to take her on a car ride, I kissed Daisy and told her I loved her. After that, I broke down in tears. I felt someone had stabbed me in the heart. I had 12 wonderful memories with this cat. She was there through it all with me. She comforted me through the good and bad. She greeted me when I come home. I had never felt this sadness and to wake up the next day with her not there was heartbreaking. I'm still coping with it. I still call her name thinking shes at home. I know she's not in pain anymore and shes in a better place but I miss her very much. I cant stop crying.
