Daily Confessional
Some days are good. Others are bad. Yesterday went from great to very bad. After the news from my doctor on Wednesday, I knew I had to make serious changes in my life and I needed to make them now. There was no more waiting. So, my husband and I got up extra early yesterday morning before he went to work to buy some healthy choices of food to put in the house until I can do serious grocery shopping tonight. That was great. I downloaded the My Fitness Pal app on my phone to track my food, calories, exercise, and whatnot. Fantastic. I was doing so well. I was working around the house, eating well, and feeling pretty positive.
And then, 7PM hits and I start getting major cravings that I cannot ignore. By the time my husband came home from work, I was basically desperate for some seriously fatty foods. I knew I shouldn't have ate what I did, but I have learned that, when I deny a craving, it only gets worse until it consumes me and I fall completely off the wagon and don't get back on.
So, I accept that we had Steak N Shake for dinner and that I ate 2.5 times my daily calorie limit yesterday. I'm not happy about it, but I have to move on and not beat myself up over it.
This journal is like a confessional sometimes. Typing up what I feel, or what I have or haven't accomplished, actually makes me feel better and makes it easier to move on and stay positive. When I commit to this site, it helps me so much. But, when I fall off the wagon completely, I don't log in because I feel ashamed of myself and do not want to admit it to anyone, not even myself.
So, I did what I did and today is a new day given to me by God. I am going to make the most of it. I have taken my medicine, so I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour before eating. Then, I will have my breakfast and go for my first walk of the day. As of yet, I have not actually gone walking in my new neighborhood at all. It has been a really long time since I have taken a walk. I just wish I knew how to put music on my phone, LOL. But, I am hoping for an Mp3 player for my birthday next month.
Anyways, after my first walk of the day, I will do some chores that have been needing attention and then get back to work on finishing up the bedroom. I need to get all of my papers, documents, and etc. put in their proper places and organize my desk space. Only 3 boxes left to empty today and they are of office stuff!!
I will not give up. I cannot give up. I will take this one day at a time. Every day is a gift from God and I feel blessed every day for everything He has given my family and for His influence in our lives.

Im happy you can use this place as a type of confessional. Keep it up!
Good luck with staying on track today!
You can do it!
I haven\'t been on DS for awhile...sorry that I haven\'t been here to support you. Despite the set-backs, you are a strong person. You will accomplish your goals. Do some research on snacks that are healthier choices. I like granola, nuts, fresh fruit, and veggies. Allow yourself to eat the junk once a week and then wean yourself down to once every other week then once a month. That\'s what I did with my fav pasta.
Love and hugs to you!!
