Dad dying

Sorry I've been so poor about writing journal entries. Work is draining my energy and I'm trying hard to get my novel done. A couple of evenings ago I was in the grove. The end of the rewrite is getting close, about fifteen hundred words or so, maybe three thousand. That evening I lay in bed trying to sleep and the story played in my head.
While the story played, I dozed a bit and had a dream. I was reading the novel to my dad. He really enjoyed the meanings in the story. The next day I found out from an older brother, my dad will be dead any day now.
I'm frantically trying to finish the story and making plans to go see him and my mom. Not sleeping well with the story going in my head. That does help make the story better, but I'm really dragging. Tomorrow my wife and youngest son are driving me to mom and dad's. I'll be with them for about ten days. I'm going to read the story out loud for them. I expect to break down and cry at times. It's going to be emotional. I don't know how they will react to the story. Dad isn't talking much now, just smiles and squeezes your hand. Neither one of them ever read Science fiction. My mom just doesn't tend to read fiction.
My feelings are a bit mixed up. Not sure how I'm going to react to my dad dying. Glad for the opportunity to be there. Glad there is a God who cares for us and wants all of us to be in his family.
I hope this finds all of my friends on here doing good.

Love and hugs, Tim

Tim, I am so very sorry to hear about your dad. I can certainly understand you feeling mixed up. That kind of news can stir up tremendous emotions. What a thoughtful and kind gesture to read your book to him. I can tell how much your writing means to you by the way you talk about it. Seems as though it\'s a creative extension of yourself and I know your dad will love that you want to share that part of you with him. He may not be able to communicate much but my heart feels that the spirit that still shines brightly within him will feel so loved by the gift of your words and presence. Love and hugs to you and your dad...

I\'m sorry to hear about your dad, too. I think he\'ll like hearing you read to him, regardless of what type of material he prefers. I know he\'ll like your company.
I was with two of my grandparents when they passed away. It hurt like crazy at the time, but in hindsight, I\'m glad I was there. When my dad\'s father passed away, I was 12 and my dad was 33. I was there, my dad wasn\'t.
My first husband -- my daughter\'s father -- died in a car accident when our daughter was only 6 years old. She was a \"Daddy\'s girl\".
Sure, you\'re gonna cry, probably a lot. But, Tim, you\'ve been blessed with the opportunity to be with your dad now that his time is near, and many years of memories to treasure. Never forget that.
