Day 5
Went for an interview with a call center today. Went through a battery of tests. I, now have more respect for call center people. I thought I'd done so bad that they wouldn't want me. But they did! Got a job offer, but I don't think I can take it. It's 50 cents less per hour than I was making, But the biggest problem is that it's in a small town outside of Waco and 20 miles from my house. I checked the mileage. That's 3 times the distance of my old job and would mean 3 times the gas. Got an offer from another call center and I'd like to take the job, but it's a contract job with no benefits for the first 6 months. Plus, they wanted me to start Monday. The salary is the same as I've had, but no overtime which is a big help in these trying times. Overtime and holiday pay really help. Still have another prospect to get to, probably Monday. Think I'm going to take it easy Saturday except checking the web for jobs. Sleep is still a problem. On another front, I found an old friend on My Space. He taught me my job when I started 18 years ago.So, things are okay so far.
