Cryday

Dearest,
It's New Year's Eve! Exactly one year ago today at about this time we were in the hospital, I went to get something for you and came back to your room asking "What's with these people?". You were so exasperated with me for not knowing what day it was, for not knowing that it was New Years Eve. There in the hospital time didn't seem to exist. Procedures, tests, and treatments that's all that existed. Like another world existing behind a veil.  I had a difficult time even grasping the concept of the end of a year.
I had a dream about us. We were kayaking on a river. The river was familiar but I didn't recognize it. I was onshore attending to some mishap and you were paddling around in an eddy waiting for me.(Picture yourself on a boat in a river) I heard you curse, turning I saw that you had dropped your paddle. As you propelled yourself after it with you hands you entered the current, No Abby! No! The current caught you and whisked you downstream, I was running along the shore, jumping logs and rocks and scrambling through the pricker bushes. I couldn't catch up. Then you tipped into a sluice and rocketed away, out of sight in seconds. As I stood there, hands on knees coughing and panting and retching, a slim woman with long white hair walked up out of the water, nude. She crossed a sand bar, picked up something, turned and waved to me. I waved back and she let a gossamer garment fall down around her, then she vanished behind some boulders. I walked to the sandbar, there were no footprints, only bird tracks.(Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes, and she's gone)
What is the message here? Yeah the river is time, I get that. What's with the sylph? She's an air spirit. Birds? Will the humming birds come for me? May 1? Very spooky. I hate spooky. Make it clear. I have an early morning tomorrow so I'm going to turn in early. Dinner then bed. Such an exciting life I lead. No word from Lydia.
Till Next year, Your Ken
