Cruise My Daughter & I Went on April 22, 2007
The 1st Cruise my daughter Erica & I went on. It happened to be one year to the day after my son Ryan's Funeral on April 20, 2006, the scattering of his ashes at the beach on April 21, 2006. One Year later on April 22, 2007 we went on a Cruise, we will never forget...
I had a thought, I want to GO ON A CRUISE, why not!!.. I had said many times before, I am a Spontanious person. When something comes to mind, I jump before thinking about it, always have..So one winter day in February 2007, I was day dreaming, feeling depressed especially in February. Those cold winter blues with snow and all... I usually get seasonal depression... When my children were little, they would perk me up, playing in the snow and so forth.. NOW when I get the blues I think of Ryan. I'm never going to see him in this world again... Nothing helps my depression unless I am caring for my kids, or someone else who needs it. I felt Erica & I needed a get away more than ever.....
I spontanious yelled upstairs "ERICA' lets go on a Cruise"... She stood in silence, came downstairs, as I ran to the phone calling my aunt Jody, she owns a travel agency...So, Jody thought it would be wonderful for Erica & I to go on a Cruise together. She Said she loves Cruises, she goes on them quite often. She said she'll check out all the cruises, and call me back...NOW.. Erica's acting excited, she is use to my spontanious acts..She calls me "crazy" just a figure of speech, I hope...lol..
My Aunt called back with the dates of different cruise deals. She said there is a nice cruise on April 22nd. It was a perfect time to go, Erica had school vacation that week. So we booked it, Bing Bang Boom. Now we had to wait a couple months until we went, but we had fun talking about it. It helped having something to look forward to.
I can’t remember if we flew out of Boston Logan Airport or Manchester Airport... Anyway, we had to fly to Houston Texas, take an hour and a half bus trip to Galveston to catch the Cruise Ship. The Rhapsody Cruise Ship was mostly for adults, Erica enjoyed it alot.. We cruised to Key West, Cayman Islands, then Cozmel Mexico. A Seven day Trip we will always remember. Each Island was different, cayman island had the prettiest water, 3 different color blues, turquoise green, it even had a hint of purple. I was in awe..We were in awe..Key West was a Historical place, lots of beautiful shops, and resturants..Cozmel mexico was also full of shops, mostly jewlrey, jewlrey and more jewlrey...
There were professional photographers, on each side of the ship. Two of the nights we had a formal dinner, with four other couples, and a show afterwards. Erica was loving it, she was probally one or the youngest there.. She pulled it off, looking like a 21 yrs old..lol
One night we were getting all dressed up to go to a bar, it was kareoke night.. I took a shower before Erica did, by the time she got ready, I FEEL INTO A DEEP SLEEP, I was burnt out. I could hear her saying MOM MOM WAKE UP.. I felt bad, but I was to burnt to go.. So she went to the bar herself, with my credit card..Well, it was a ship card with my name on it, with no picture on it, so she can order drinks with it . Her card said she was a minor, she didn't want to go without having drinks!!!
I woke up around 1:00 in the morning, she was still out, of course my head is taking me to places, thinking the what if she was drunk & fell over board, all the crazy stuff that goes through a moms head. Shortly after a while she walked in our room. Yup! she was feeling pretty good. Erica said she used my card, the bar tender called her Kelly all night,lol. She told me the place was packed, there wasn't any seats left. She saw these 2 older men waving at her to sit with them. She said the men were really nice, she told them that her mom fell asleep so she went out by herself. They got talking, the subject came up how we spontanious booked the cruise, and told one of the men, the reason why we booked the cruise, was b/c a year ago her brother had died from an accidental drug overdose. We needed to go on this cruise, to help relieve all the stress we have gone through in the past year..
One of the guy's name was Mike, he said he understood, he had lost his son 1. 1/2 yrs before in a car accident. His son Justin driving & his other son Bryan were going through a green light. The person in the other car went through a Red light, hit them broadside on the drivers side. Which his son Justin was driving. He was instantly killed, said the police. Mike, the man's father told Erica to meet at the pool on deck in the morning, so he could meet me. Erica had told him I have been having a hard time, he was almost 2 yrs beyond us in the grieving process.
Anyway, Erica went up to sing Kareoke, it was funny cause when see got up to the Microphone. The D.J asked what her name was, she said "Hi my name is Erica", she was going to sing. Blah Blah Blah... She forgot to introduce herself as Kelly, the bartender knew the name on the card was Kelly not Erica, lol.. All the ship cares about is the money, it wasn't a teenage cruise. It was mostly people 25 yr old & up. She played the part very well,lol..
The next morning we went on top deck, ate breakfest, sat at the pool, listening to Reggea island music. That guy Mike showed up and we talked about our losses of our sons. He told Erica to be aware that my 2nd year will probally be worst then the 1st. Mike asked me what my sons name was, I told him Ryan, he said his son's name who died, was Justin, and the other son who survived was Bryan, I thought he said Ryan, like my sons name. It hit me weird, I had goose bumps. I told him my nephew's name Is Justin, and I basically brought Justin up, he was at my house more than he was home. Justin was like my oldest son, Ryan was my Son who died.. The guy Mike's sons names were Justin & Bryan, Justin was his son who died. It was so weird and airy..It was the opposite boys name, who had died. Even though his sons name was Bryan, and mine was Ryan. But it was his son justin who died.. Was it a Coincidence or What, God only knows..
Now that same day the band had a couple of contests, the men who wanted to be in the contest had to line up. They picked 5 women to be judges. The men had to show off their legs in front of the women judges, dancing down the line of the judges, the man who had the sexiest "chicken legs" won.. They had music, everyone was clapping & laughing.. Once the Mens contest was over, the women had to do a skit in front of 5 men judges, the contest was which girl who had the best bi-ceps, won.. The girls all lined up who wanted to participate. I was not going to do it, no way. All of a sudden I saw Erica running up in line. I was like "what is she crazy!, she doesn't have any bi-ceps, I laughed and said go for it. Erica was one of the last girls in line. The longer we waited for Erica's turn, I was dying inside, wondering what kind of skit she was going to do..It finally was Erica's turn up, I started laughing, They asked her name, and she's on the microphone, "HI MY NAME IS ERICA FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE", she had this sexy beach top on. She whipped it off, and did 4 cart wheels down the line of the men judges, YES, she had a bathing suit on, but just barely, it was quite skimpy, lol. I was laughing so hard I thought I was gonna pee my pants. Erica won a metal anyway, but not for the best Bi-ceps.. She won for giving the men a heart attack. lol. The men were older men, and she was probally the youngest sexy girl there..lol..
The thing is it was another coincidence... to me anyway... cause when Ryan was born, he had these little skinny chicken legs as a baby.. Ryan was always the comedian, the joker who made everyone laugh.. Its funny, I said to Erica, I know Ryan had something to do with us going on this trip.. There was so many coincidence that happened. I know Ryan would of won the skiniest leg contest. It was another sign from heaven, Ryan was on that trip with us.. I knew Ryan would of done the mens contest. Never thought Erica would though,lol..The only thing was Ryan had big bi-ceps, and had chicken legs.. Erica had nice shaped legs with no bi-ceps.. Thats why I know Ryan was with us on this trip. Its the way things were happening throughout the trip, which made me BELIEVE Ryan was guiding this whole trip.lol.
1st of all I had this spur of the moment urge to go on a cruise, I didn't realize the date of the trip, was 1 yr to the day after Ryans furneral and scattering of his ashes. Which was on the 20th & 21st of April.... April 22nd 2007 was the 1st day of the 1st year without him, It was the 1st day Erica & I had to start our lives over with-out Ryan, OUR Super Hero!... "God do we miss him!!!
The last morning we were getting ready to depart from the boat.. We had Searched every place in the cabin, we made sure we didn't leave anything behind..Although I thought we had left something behind, but I always feel like that every time we are packing to go anyway...The weird thing about it, later on after we were home a while, I forgot one of my grieving books I had left it in one of the draws in the cabin next to my bed, which I never read, cause I didn't need to. We were so content with having fun on the ship..I forgot about the book!!
So, IF anyone who went on the cruise after us. I have been wondering ever since, whoever had our room, maybe had found it, and needed it! The Book was written by "Allison DuBois" Name of book "We Are Their Heaven".. Erica and I started to read some of it at home, but didn't finish it.. So I thought we would read some on the cruise.. WE did not have to read it, Ryan was on the cruise with us, he wanted us to have fun... He is who made me forget about the book. Someone else who found it must of needed it... I TRULY BELIEVE IT!!! SORRY I tried to keep it short.lol.. Love to all of you, my Friends, Kelly
