Criminy!

Well, now I have another dilemma... the new place I'm going to gave me a nice outside sock.  It's sorta' like a thigh high stocking with an elastic grip to keep it from sliding down.  They also gave me about a dozen cotton socks.  I'm supposed to add one to my leg underneath the outside stocking each day.  Well, the cotton sock doesn't have an elastic band and it's shorter than the stocking so it tends to  roll.  I'm concerned because if the first one is rolling down, aren't they all going to do that creating a big mess?  Help if you have any suggestions, pleae?

I think that the outside stocking that they gave you might be called a shrinker sock, and the others are to fill up the space between your leg and the socket of your prosthesist as your leg keeps on decreasing in size from swelling and such. Your best bet on a fear like this would be to talk to the prostheticist. I have no experience in this yet; that is just from what I have read. Then again, maybe you can get some nice frilly garters to show off :D Don\'t panic just yet-- they have a solution, I am sure.

Good advice from Edalji! I had a shrinker sock for a while (don\'t flex your stump too much while in the shrinker, you\'ll rub a blister on your stump and have to start all over). I have not heard of any socks for inside a shrinker, but different prosthetists do different things.
