Credit Card Blues
OK, I guess I was premature in "celebrating" paying off the card. It really did look like it was going to be paid off, but then some unexpected expenses came up & I was hoping with H's $ coming in, it would free up some of my $, but that didn't happen.
Plus: after the hurricane, he discovered our chimney was actually falling apart! So we got an estimate & it's going to be $1400. Can't get around that, because if those bricks fall down, it'll be dangerous.
Plus: the "good" car broke down (fortunately in a good place & at a good time), needs a new fuel pump, so that'll be $900.
I would really like to get to a place where I can:
- get the credit cards paid off
- start saving money for emergencies such as this.
I mean, baby steps are being taken for sure. But I know that eventually we will need a new car, plus my daughter is going to need braces. Put on top of all that the "little" expenses of school pictures, etc. & it all adds up.
I just wish he would get a more regular job, but at this point, it really doesn't look like it's going to happen. A little piece of me thinks "maybe I should get a 2nd job, part-time", but is that really in the family's best interest? (Or mine, for that matter?) Even though they're both in High School now, they still need me to an extent. And my doggy, too! :-)
Maybe I'm putting too much pressure on myself, once again. I mean, I am making progress & things do happen. I'm just tired of being behind the 8 ball all the time...
On a separate but vaguely related note, because the car was in the shop & I wasn't able to get a rental (too late), the kids had to take the school bus for the 1st time & I took the city bus again. I was so nervous about the kids making the bus & being safe at the stop, but it all worked out. What I should have worried about was me--the bus driver refused to take my token (and it had been acceptable all summer!). A kind soul gave me a dollar, so I got to work OK. I did write to the bus company, because the website seems to contradict this!
Now I need to quiet my mind, because it really has been "one of those days"! At least "Dancing With the Stars" and "Castle" are on tonight!
