I am in a creative mood and I wanted to write.
It is very hot outside. I was going to go to the dump but when I went outside to get the garbage, I noticed construction going on, on the underside of the lip around the top of the plastic garbage can. The nest of the very angry, northern, white faced hornet was being skillfully built but a swarm of them!
I couldn't decide what to do. I was caught between a rock and a hard space. I had two choices.
Go in the shed and grab a can of hornet and bee spray and evict the little buggas, or let it grow, great big, harvest in the fall after the first frost, and sell it on ebay!
I was wondering how bad all that garbage would smell by then,if I waited that long to go to the dump?
I pondered this serious dilemma for a few hours while playing games on my computer, and then I went into action!
I grabbed that can of raid and I showed them who's boss!
I came back to write about my victory while waiting for the remainder to die off! I can just imagine the ones returning from din din, seeing the devastation, I actually feel bad for them, but they will have to find a better place to build a home!
I am going to the dump shortly but it's not really a dump, it's a recycle center. There is a place for everything that can be recycled. Newspapers, Magazines, glass, paper bags, plastic bags, number 1 and 2 plastics and milk jugs and cardboard which reminds me, I need to pick some up. I use cardboard to ship the things I sell on ebay. I get it there and also at a local store. They love it when I take it off their hands!
So that's all the news, It's time for me to make a dump run,

bob you did the right thing...the buggers needed to die for choosing the wrong nesting place...LOL
You do not need them flying so close to your home.I would imagine a sting would hurt a lot.

Billy! I was the judge and jury on that one! I sentenced them to death for making a bad decision lol!
Yikes. I would have just taken the can to the dump and got a new one...lol. We don\'t have a recycling program but hopefully soon. Enjoy your week. Robin
Yep, I have been stung by them Hurts like heck. My father ran over a nest of hornets when we lived out in the country and received over 100 stings, and I am not joking. When we found him, he was almost dead, had to take him to the ER. He was on a tractor, and fell off when they started stinging him, broke his leg and so forth.
Be careful, and yes you did the right thing. Feeling so creative, I have some work for you!
