Crazy Weekend

Sunday, August 10, 2008 – 10:20 A.M.   This has been somewhat of a crazy weekend, and I don’t expect it to get much better today.   Friday night, we had a terrific thunderstorm, which dumped three inches of rain here in just one hour. There was flooding in streets. Neighboring areas had water rising as high as car windows. Some roads, major highways, and Interstates were closed and people were told not to leave their homes.   Looking out my patio window, I saw what appeared to be a wide, sheer curtain of rain heading our way. I was almost certain we were going to be struck by a tornado, so I tried making plans on where I could go to be safe. Since there is no place to hide in case of such disasters, I decided that my innermost bathroom would have to suffice. Fortunately, my fears turned out to be groundless.   I just learned that we are under a flash flood watch with very heavy rains (up to three inches per hour) starting at two o’clock and continuing through the evening. On a day when I am going somewhere, this is just what I need. NOT!   Late yesterday morning, I had a ride to Wal-Mart so I could get swim trunks for my physical therapy appointment tomorrow. I gave the address (which I got from the Internet) to the agency that provides my rides. When we arrived at that location, nothing was there other than housing complexes. The driver brought me back home. I am going to give it another try later this morning, but will go to a store where I went about a month ago.   This weekend, I have been feeling somewhat ill with stomach cramps, hot and cold flashes, pain, and feelings of nausea. I think it may have something to do with my anxiety over going to pool therapy tomorrow. It could also be caused by all the changes in help that I am getting from my home health care agency. Then again, my kidney infection may not have cleared up entirely. If I don’t feel better soon, I will probably make an appointment to see my doctor.   I suspect this week will be hectic since I have six appointments in five days. I will try to set up a better schedule for next week.
