Crazy couple of weeks
David got the stomach flu, then Paul got it, then I got it. It was 3 days of hell! And still days after that where we did not feel "normal." I still get what feels like gastritis attacks and I had to take a lot of Tums and Nexium for a week as the acid was really bad! You would think I would have lost weight. Nope! Eating comfort food and junk, even beyond being full. The stress got to me.
Got my annual review at work. it was "ok." Just ok. I guess I should be happy to get a raise. But all of my previous reviews were great, so kind of disappointing for me to just get an "ok." I have been kind of "blah" about the job these past few months. Guess it shows? I am hoping that if I can exercise, lose weight, feel better about myself, it will get better with work too.
I taught my first class at CRE. It was ok except for this one kid who drove me up a wall. He refused to sit in his seat, he refused to stop texting, he refused to do any work. He was goofing off. It just frustrated me. A couple of the other kids were a little riled up as well. I just did not feel "in control" of the class. My first time teaching a class ever, so I guess I should give myself some slack?
David busted yet another door since I last wrote a journal. I am so wiped out by this kid. He slept over my sister's house this past weekend and they gave him money for helping out. Well, supposedly last night in the middle of the night, he walked up to Wawa (a convenience store open all night) and got someone to buy him a pack of cigarettes. He got caught smoking in school so now he is suspended again and a $25 fine. Ugh! And my bratty 16 year old niece says "well, if you are yelling at him he is not going to respect you. Kids don't respect their parents these days." SOOOO???? Does that mean I have to take it? I don't think I should have to put up with disrespect at all.
So David now doesn't want to deal with things and goes to bed early to avoid discussing the situation. meanwhile, Paul has to take him to school tomorrow to meet with the vice principal.
I did not exercise at all for over a week. I spent 2 days in bed last weekend from the stomach flu. Today, I did 67 minutes of Wii Walk It Out. I really was tired and did not feel like it. Joyce: i did it anyway! Thanks!

Thumbs up for \"doing it anyway\"! This is a habit I am working on too!
So what happens if the $25 fine is not paid? Who is paying it? And I guess your 16 yr niece is not a model teenager either with her take on respect. Oh my I do not miss my children\'s teenage years.
I hope you are now feeling better. that stomach flu can really wipe you out.
You seem to be getting it from all sides.
How is the counseling going with David?
Great job with doing the exercise.
I have been looking at ways parents of ADHD youth may bring some structure and happiness back into their lives and found the following. Let me know what you think of it.

Moment by moment - \'inch by inch\' life is a cinch.

I see that Patricia mentioned ADHD and must share my daughter\'s Doctor\'s take on this subject. Sorry if I have mentioned this before. He says that persons with ADHD can not handle making too many decisions all at once and that the become overwhelmed and flustered and act out. They need to live simple and structured lives. They need routine. My Granddaughter has seen much improvement since she worked at getting routine in her son\'s life. Hope this helps. HUGS!
First gold star for doing your wii when you weren\'t feeling good. It takes a lot of dedication to exercise when youa ren\'t feeling up to it. I agree 100% that kids don\'t respect elders or their parents anymore. I think it is because school and the media have taught them that if they don\'t like the discipline they can call and report their parents or any other adult as abusing them. This has given them the power to control the situaiton and they no longer have a healthy fear of consequences for their actions. I am sorry you are still have problems with David. Hope things quiet down and all of you start feeling better soon. XO :)
