Craziness
Very crazy and frustrating couple of weeks. How do indoor cats get fleas anyway? Greg does not seem too concerned, of course HE is not the one getting chewed up alive. I have scratched my ankles bloody. I want to make this priority...tackling this problem...but you know, life gets in the way.
Greg had 2 meltdowns this week. He had to have a tick removed and is already thinking he will get lyme disease. And his Kindle would not work after we had to reset the wireless router. During times like this he acts like Chicken Little. I know this is not fair of me, things upset me too...but I DO offer him support when he is flying off the deep end, whereas I get none from him.
Mom is driving us crazy. I know she misses Bob, but she will do nothing to help herself. Last night she had Jim come running over because she was "sick". Turns out she has a cold. Her temp was 98 degrees so she insisted that because she is normally 97, she was running a fever. She continuously complains she is lonely. She does see one of us every week and she has a wonderful boyfriend. It is HER choice if she rarely wants to leave the house. I find myself wishing that I had a normal, loving parent, and not one who is so wrapped up in herself that she does not see the damage she is doing to her relationships with her children by making continuous demands. The stress and anxiety I feel just walking in that house is ridiculous. I HATE feeling this way...I know she won't be here forever..this guilt is overwhelming.
My life coach continues to work with me. It is pretty deep stuff....this "getting in your own head." One of my favorite things he's taught me is that "I own the power" to solve problems, reach goals, turn negatives into positives...etc... Cool stuff....I cannot wait to get the book he is writing about this. I am learning a lot about myself. I realized that I CAN handle problems, as long as I do not get bombarded with them. Last week and this week I WAS bombarded..I am trying to work through this.
I am getting stronger though, I can feel it :-)

Hi Diane,
My indoor cat also got a bad case of fleas a couple of years ago. It was awful. I deep vacuumed the entire house on an almost daily basis and then threw out the vacuum bag each time. I did not get it under control until I got the Advantage flea drops for my cat and used them religiously each month for several months in a row before we stopped seeing the fleas.
It was crazy, as I used carpet spray and carpet powder to no avail. We would flea comb the cat on a daily basis and wash the fleas down the drain. We bathed the cat, too!
I feel sorry for you having to deal with your mother.
I also have a similar situation with my 70 y.o. mother, although she doesn\'t cry about feeling bad much, but she does call on me for everything even though she has three sons who are a very short distance away AND she is still \"dating\" my Dad who she divorced two years ago. The divorced caused all sorts of drama and she now lives in a house I own.
Hope things get better for your cats and family!
