Cousin Trip Recap

So we got to South Carolina on Friday evening, around 6:30pm. We got to meet Chele's husband, Tim, and her son Skyler. We hung out at the house for a while, and Chele's daughter, Raelynn, came home and we all hung out and had fun. The kids are a blast. Tim is self-employed, so he showed us his office next door. He spoils his employees like my brother's company does- fridge full of food and drinks, all free! Then we all went out to Golden Corral, a buffet place. It was good, the food was really good (better than what I was expecting for $11) and I got to spend time with the kids a bit. I came home that night, made a short journal entry, and went to sleep.
Saturday was really nice. I woke up, added to my journal and then went and sat at the lake for a while, fishing. I didn't catch anything, but that really wasn't the point- I just wanted to relax by the lake. Fishing was as good of a reason as any to sit down there. It was so calm and peaceful for the most part- just sitting and letting time pass. The scenery was awesome- a tree-lined lake. I have some pictures that I'm going to post later. Then Raelynn came home from her grandmothers and it was chaos again. Skyler is a handful by himself, but when he and his sister are together it's just crazy. The kids seemed to like me. Chele said I was their fun new aunt who got to spoil them- her sister Nicole doesn't do it much, since she has her own kids to take care of.
Speaking of Nicole, we got to meet her Saturday afternoon. It was nice seeing her again. I think I said already that she looked so much like she did as a kid, and her 5 year old daughter looked just like she did when Nicole was that age. Nicole's other daughter, Miley, is 6 months old and just the cutest little happy baby. They call her “Smiley Miley” since she smiles all the time. It was a bit hard to see Nicole living in a bad area- I'm talking so bad some guy did a crack deal right outside our car window- especially with the kids, but it's her choice. It's not my life, I can't control what other people do (even if I want to).
That's something else I want to work on- control issues. I'm a control freak, and I need to learn to let go a bit and just chill. I have so much I want to talk to Arango about, I have to split it up and see what we can cover and when. I see her on Cinco de Mayo, which I'm not doing anything for this year. It's really more of an American holiday than an actual Mexican one anyway.
Today was nice too... got to see Chele for a couple more hours, and then we went home. It took us 7 hours to get here, so I'm tired and going to bed. Mood is bad, since I have had a bad attitude all day for some reason.
