Court today...
If I didn't know better and if I had the authority, I'd send this freakin' judge for a psych eval. He flip flops more than a politician during a speech!
He honestly got upset that, as he put it, the person I was with, had been set up to fail by the system. TA-DA, I thought. He further went on to state that everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Again, TA-DA, I thought. The person in question and the lawyer both hit on target with their remarks during court. TA-DA, I thought.
Then, his robe must have gotten into a twist and he sentences prison!!!!!! I was in total shock. I mean, really.
Appeal will be in process and I conferred with the lawyer that since this entire situation arose due to in part a psych malady, that he appeal on the basis that in prison proper medical care is not being given and the outcome could be fatal.
He agreed and said he would make note.
Man, AM I STEAMED! Justice system is a massive crock! It may be legal but it sure isn't justice.
The case before my client's was drug related, he got off and the freakin' lawyer told his mother "Keep him away from drugs." Now, how in the Sam Thomas is a woman in a wheelchair supposed to keep a grown man from drugs? DRUGS is why he was there to start with!!!!!!
Am I the only sane one on this planet???? GOOD GRIEF! I mean, my "client" did break the law DUE TO A PSYCH MALADY THAT WAS UNTREATED AND WHEN IT BECAME TREATED WAS "NORMAL" AND FUNCTIONING PRODUCTIVELY IN SOCIETY!!!! The druggie gets off because he CHOSE to do drugs.
I'm now looking for Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and the lovely tea party which should be going on about now!!

Dear BARBARA - I was so shocked I could\'ve fell over. I thought, but didn\'t say it (evil grin) \"HEY, MORON, IF SHE COULD KEEP A 18-19 YR OLD AWAY FROM DRUGS, YOU WOULDN\'T BE HERE!\" I just couldn\'t believe that. If the guy wants to go straight, he will, if not, momma can\'t do jack!
Dear NAN - I can figure out the typos. LOL Yes, we are in much prayer and an appeal is in process. However, the legal system is so slooooow, that by the time the appeal is processed, the term of sentence will be over. FURTHER, the person needs to be remanded to a Psych Facility as that is what was part of the reason the \"crime\" was committed. Further, no PSYCH care is given in jail. Talk about injustice....
