Courage; Be Brave

Well I did it; I called for an appointment with the neurologist. I saw my neurosurgeon on Thursday last week for all of 30 seconds. He was slammed with patients. Now his adorable new intern was with me for around 20 mins so no biggie. He ran some simple mobility and strength test but I had what I call a pain episode. The movements, or the seating upon which I sat was unstable, soft, so my body reacted with shooting pain which then burned for hours. The intern said well I know what that means and wouldn't tell me, naughty boy!! He couldn't, I know but really. I'm sitting right there!!! Ha ha. I'm not mad, just frustrated at the situation. Doc came in with my CT Scans, no problems there, must be neurological, meaning nerves. Well, no offense but " Duh!!!" To those that have said change doctors. No way in heaven will I change. This surgeon is the best in the states and Europe. I am privileged to have him and I trust him, even if he is so busy he doesn't spend much time with me, he looks me in the eye and shakes my hand and escorts me to the check out desk personally. Who does that? No doctor I've ever had prior to this. So...on with the show. I am being sent to a neurologist for nerve conduction tests. I've not written about this here before as I don't want to put anyone off having these test. My prior experience wasn't a good one. I know, curiosity is peaked. Let me say...there are stages to these examinations and tests, each person is different due to nerve compression and entrapment. These tests are diagnostic and reveal the damage to your personal nerves, not a generality in response, OK??? I have had to gather all the courage I have to call today to schedule this test. By the way, I couldn't do so pending insurance and referral. Whew!!! I won't relate my experience here...wouldn't be fair to others who look to me for support and comfort. I may not be a good example. My next test, which I do not know what exactly what will happen, will be an experience I may not share here...I expect things yet may be pleasantly surprised. Remember, I am now on a massive dose of Gabapentin, so that may block the sensations. I do hope so.  At least now I know I am brave, beyond any scope of my imagination. I called to make the appointment, that is enough for now. Sword in hand I will prevail. Ha ha. I think its time I lay down for a nap, enough excitement for one day. ( laughing out loud at this one...I didn't get up until 2 pm. ) Ttyl. D

Glad you made it through. I am always asking questions if they aren\'t telling. Its my money, my body and my time. They are working for me. You can share your test experience know matter how much torture is involved. We lie in our bodies and they seem tortured everyday.

Hope you get feeling better later.
