county fair and farmer's market

25 miles away, to county fair, with "3 miles" away sign eventually to town for it, though my friend driving, with his gps navigation saying another route, so after 5 more miles there was a sign that said "5 miles" away to town that was once "3 miles", and which we eventually came to.
Long line to get into fair, with small wooden bridge to cross a stream to get into fair, and fair hidden by trees.  Five dollars to get inside, and another five dollars if want to see tractor pulling contest.
I watched/stared at two young couples lose FORTY FIVE DOLLARS on carney game of using 5? discs to cover some big red disc; a stuffed toy for prize, though nobody won, and today to look up on internet for # sites re that being a con, with game they played was five dollars a try!
Watched kids in clear balls knock each other over, at 3 dollars for five minutes; bumper cars type low tech; the teen "girls were worse than the boys" (as they cliche goes), though one little boy, maybe five years old, did knock some teen girl to the ground, when she wasn't looking; kinda funny in a cruel way.
Pig racing was fun, and sad; really feel lousy for eating pork.  The owner of that show had his little boy playing with a toy truck inside the race ring, with a baby in a rocker outside the ring.
Was a "miss dairy princess" contest, with winner or contestant later on a swing ride in her contest gown.  My 50 year old alpha male friend was talking on and on to a 20 year old "Miss Honey Princess", honey as in bee honey; it's amazing how old him gets away with such flirting with young women.
All very hicks-ville, though i had fun (some lousy photos inclosed).
Learned of fair from brochure at closer farmer's market; 2 days later I got 41 used dvds there at a dollar a piece; i asked the seller for a box or bag to put them in---he dumped a box of other dvds onto the ground and gave me that box.

Wow! What a clown show. Interesting what people will spend their money on. I would rather have the movies too! You can enjoy them over and over and they will keep you good company.

Sounds like lots of fun. I haven\'t been to a fair or carnival since my children were young. I used to love treating my children to rides, watching their excitement was worth every penny!
I hope you enjoy the DVDs that you purchased. Sure can\'t beat the price. My daughter and I have been watching Dexter on Netflicks. It\'s a very interesting show. We don\'t normally get such good stuff on Canadian TV.

Hi, TroJanThunder and KelleyPaterson.

I\'m glad I grabbed so many dollar dvds when I did---cause a week later most were gone.

Decades ago, at a 2nd hand store, a lot of vhs tapes were gone, with the owner telling me somebody from nyc came in and bought 500 dollars worth, to start his own shop---which is maybe what happened with the couple hundred, one dollar, dvds that were left.

I got mostly typical dvds, though also a Chinese bootleg of \"the four feathers\", split in two chapters, with some Chinese on cover. And an English language version of an Ingrid bergman Italian movie, with Korean subtitles. For two dollars I got a 3-disc \"guns of will sonnet\" 1967 tv show, with jack Nicholson in one episode for a few minutes.

For ONE PENNY, on weds 5th, I got a \"faster typing\" disc at farmers mrkt---for windows 3.1! I found out my typing is 38 words per minute.

there were the usual cows and goats at the fair, though i\'m too afraid of diseases to touch them.
