countdown to Christmas

With the holiday season comes opportunities to socialize with others. I went to a party with my support group forsocial phobia. I feel my social skills have definitely improved.I tried to remember what people had told me about themselveslast time I spoke to them and ask questions from there, I alsotried to listen more carefully to the conversation so that I couldfollow along well. Overall I felt it was a good experience and Ihad a nice time. This week we also had a small get together with the staff at mywork. This was more challenging because my co workers seemmore confident in social situations and the conversation goes aroundfast. I did try to talk as much as possible but I also allowed myself tolisten and be quiet as well. One of my co workers also complained about me to my boss and I wasconfronted by both of them in the office. It was an upsetting scene butI tried to stay calm and stand up for myself. I calmly told them my sideof the story and stayed solution focused. I have decided not to argue withpeople at work and I did not but it was such a hard thing to do that I wenthome with a horrible migraine headache. I am continuing to express my own opinions and feelings more even thoughI find it difficult at times but I find it definitely worthwhile. with peace and friendship to all!!!

universe, I don\'t have social phobia but I did have it for a while so I can remember what it was like. Either way any dispute taken into the office is uncomfortable. I commend you on your efforts to support your experience. It is not a fun thing to have to do and at times it isn\'t easy. Hoping that it was resolved. :o)

Cheers, pageo

I\"m glad you had alot of fun at that party. I had social anxiety but as long as you stay calm you can over come it. Getting along with coworkers is a hard thing to do. I\"m just glad most of my coworkers are nice. Just stay positive and think everyone likes you and try to smile. Thats what I do even though I feel like I\'m faking it lol.

You\'ve done so well in your interactions at the party, and also handling the confrontation with peace and a constructive attitude. You turned a potentially explosive situation into something that worked well for you all (sorry about the migraine though).
With lots of love and best wishes for Christmas and the new year.
Thank you for your support and friendship.
