Counseling

I discussed with my counselor yesterday about what happened with my mom the day after my birthday.  She reaffirmed what I already knew in the sense that both of us needed to do better on listening to each other.  At the tail end of the coversation, I discussed with her that the reason why I feel the way I do is because of how she treated me growing up, so that is something we are going to discuss at the next session on Friday.  She gave me homework to make me aware of my boundaries with my mom, which will be of great benefit. I had an insight yesterday that I didn't notice until after the rape.  I learned to NOT accept gifts from strangers.  Thankfully I didn't do that when I moved in, but that is a red flag, that I feel like I "should" have caught in the very beginning.  Now I am more self-aware in that matter, and basically am going to have very little to do with my neighbors for now on because it could be a trap.  Thankfully I am moving out next year, even though I pray my neigbor moves out or gets kicked out at some point. I stopped myself from having a panic attack two times at work this week, so I am glad to see progress being made. Have  a blessed week.

It is a difficult road to travel with your mother and I certainly understand...having been there myself. But, the beautiful part of it is that working with counsel, you\'ll hopefully find a middle ground where you and her can actually have a mutually loving and respectful relationship. It has taken years, and I spoke with someone who has helped me break down some fences, now I\'m praying and asking God to sustain the relationship. Just because we\'re speaking, doesn\'t necessarily mean things are hunky dory. It takes a lot of work on both sides, but by the grace of God, you\'ll make it. The beautiful part about this whole situation is that, God knows your heart. And, He WILL work it out. Have a blessed evening!!!
