counselor
yesterday i met a counselor that has worked for 43 years. she told me about her background but i didn't hear that she actually worked for a office anywhere. it wasn't a private situation either. it was at her house and there was another girl in the other room. so i didn't have much to say. i didn't want to open up in that kind of situation. i got to do a sand tray which i've never done before. i placed a house in the center of the box. a empty crib with a baby half buried in the left bottom corner. in the top right corner i placed a young doll- my inner child with a cat by her. in the top right corner i put a basket of little gem stones with five of them stepping out toward a bridge in the l right bottom corner facing the house. she explained what each corner meant but it is too hard to explain, but she nailed it with what i was thinking about when i laid it out. interesting experience. i really don't want to go back unless it is somewhere i can open up feeling what i tell her is confidential which i question at this time.
i dinged my ankle somewhere yesterday and it is painful when i walk on it. i think i did something to it when i took the kids to the park. they had a blast. i want them to enjoy the outside before it gets cold again. so at this point they will have a lot of sunshine 8^) i took my crocheting with me but didn't get anything done because they were so fun to watch. what a good day.

I love sandtray...i am a school counselor and use it a lot with my kiddos too
so what do you think about my counselor and place of sharing?
Bizzare, really. That is not really up to ethical and condintiality standards...is she licensed??
don\'t know she says she has been doing this for 43 years and her granddaughter(?) pushed her onto me. so far she can tell through the sand exactly why i put everything where i did. she thought it was odd that i would half bury a baby i told her that i wasn\'t allowed to be part of her services and that i just sat in a corner by myself and cried. when they went to her little grave with her casket feeling so devastated the guys up the hill had a scoop full of dirt to bring down to finish her. i motioned for them to come down and they did. i told them that i didn\'t get to be part of the funeral and asked if i could bury her.... they handed me the shovel and i buried her. that was my closure. she then understood why i put her there.
Sand try therapy comes from the work of Carl Jung. It can be revealing and knowing more about a person can inform a therapist more as the symbols are more flupd in this kind of exercise. What may seem to be apparent can be greater and deeper and a therapist with LOTs of experience in this area is worth her weight in gold!
Talk to her about how you feel about the location and the girl next door and your sense that there is no real confidentiality. It would be worthwhile to do so.
Take care. Hugs.
The girl lives with her.
Glad you had fun in the park. We all need FUN days. Never heard of a sand tray. Did you lilke it?
