Couldn't sleep last night
You'd think I would've been able to sleep like a baby last night after my two public speaking events under my belt but NO. First of all, last night I went to bed very late. I didn't get home until 11PM (since the community I did my talk was an hour away and I had to drop off a friend in another town on the way home). A little while later my husband came home from playing tennis. He's on a league and the guys stay after for a beer or two. So he was up too for awhile after he got home. I wasn't tired - only wired from the amazing evening. The way this community - as a whole - brought 200 + parents together to address the teen drug problem blew me away! I am still reeling. It made me cry. It started out with a mom who went to the Superintendent asking for him to do this event and not only did he do it willingly - he did it with heart and I mean HEART! He brought in the clergy from the whole community and had two pastors speak. The first one gave an amazing talk that started with a prayer. Next was the Mayor who started his talk with the pledge and he also gave a very passionate talk about how we all need to work together as a community - not individually - in helping families and kids. I believe he talked about God, too. After that they had two police officers speak. The first one talked about how he knows, first hand, what it's like to be a loved one of (his niece) with a heroin addiction. Those two were great. Then came me. I had NEVER ever formulated my story before and it was only through the grace of God that I was able to write it (getting a talk down to 15 minutes isn't easy) but give my talk with passion. I received a standing ovation. Next was Jim - the chemical dependancy guy (who asked me to the do talk) and his talk was awesome! He's our family support group facilitator. Following him - was the Superintendent who spoke for a fairly long time and I was blown away by his strong desire in helping kids. I remember I kept thinking - is this for real? And then the evening ended (2 hr event that felt like a half hour) with another minister who closed with a short talk and prayer.
The event was taped so their community can view it. I asked for copies (one with me edited out of it so I can show some "players" in our community.
BTW - I think I woke up because when I did - T-Man was on my mind. I was awake for a long time and took advantage of that time and prayed. This morning? Woke up 45 minutes before the alarm. I know T is in God's hands and I pray for Him to watch over T but I realized I didn't ask for Him to help us connect with him. I will do that.

More comments under messages, but your point about asking for what you want in prayer is a good one.
I too realized that this past few days when we couldn\'t get hold of our son, it underlay my thoughts, and gave me a layer of tension that wasn\'t usually there....
I\'m so proud of you! A standing ovation is amazing. It sounds like a great program with a wonderful turnout.
