Coughing
I found out why I've been coughing so much the past few days.
They had it on the news tonight...the red tide is back in the Gulf. Very high levels were found close to shore, and the wind has been strongly onshore lately. Red tide causes respiratory problems and coughing. Right now my chest hurts, my head is all congested, and my eyes are burning.
Like they used to say when I was a kid...if it's not one thing it's another. It's always something.

Red tide! I\'ve never heard of this Richie!! Pollution is a miserable thing to have to deal with. Especially those of us with chronic illness. It\'s hard enough to just get up each day with our aches and pains without the rest of the spraying, noise pollution, car emissions, you name it. Now here\'s something making you feel unwell that I never even heard of.

Weren\'t we just talking about Red Tide? Maybe you could try a medical mask for a few days. I hate coughing, cause it takes too much energy.

Yikes. Your description sounds like nasty stuff is going on both with the air quality and your body. We actually had some sunshine today while the wind was whipping everything around like crazy.
I hope you can rest a little bit even though you don\'t feel well.

Masks don\'t help with red tide, it\'s a toxin rather than a dust. The wind is supposed to shift tomorrow and push the bad air back out to sea. The scientists who monitor red tide are saying this is the worst outbreak since 06.
Red tide makes almost anyone cough if they get enough of it. It\'s killing loads of fish and crabs. It\'s been around since precolumbian times. The people who lived here then dumped all their waste directly into the bay, most likely...and there were tens of thousands of them. So it\'s possible that it\'s all due to pollution...which creates \"blooms\" of algae like red tide.
