Recent disapproval from several newer group members, alongside the ongoing friction from several older members have riled my flight instincts mightily. Support groups are full of people with similar illnesses to mine and I have long expected trigger effects as a natural side effect which can be turned to healing advantages with group support and compassion. In the live support groups, anyway. On-line support groups are distinctly different from live support groups. Lack of physical presence, alone, makes it difficult to know when to back off of a particular reasoning line. You don't get to know when you are hurting someone until after you push "Send" on the hurtful post and they push "Send" on the counter-attack. Typically, no one else in the group even knows the trigger event has happened and no support can be offered. Both parties are on their own. Let the Troll accusations begin. . . A Troll is anybody who can't read a digitized mind and simply Know who and/or what is on the poster. Add in the advice columnist wanna-be's, the political activists and evening news alarmists. . . Where are the healing hopes?
For sure, my forum hyper-vigilance is extreme. Haven't quite identified the hurt factor yet. How much is my own on-going psychosis and how much is actual rejection or whatever, but. . . Ouch. . .
Whatever the yaddahs of those blahs, this is my first on-line journal (blogs don't count. Those were merely experiments) and my computer training is after me to have a back-up copy, regardless. My old-world mentors are gasping that I have let 6 years worth of work go without back-ups.

Big squishy hug for you sweetie.... Sometimes online can be tricky for sure.... I'm glad that you're here though and that you're my pal......xo
Thank you, SunCloud. Your live group etiquette surely shows. I'll bet you are even smarter than your phone.
(((hugs))) I think by that definition we are all guilty of trolling at some point, though I don't think there is any malice intended. Maybe sometimes we forget about the limitations of interweb communication.
My first understanding of digital trolling was salespeople "trolling for prospects." Somewhere in the early 21st century the word went viral/multi-lingual and. . . Now I'd rather try to sort the diff between fashion "cool" and slang "hot." The self-appointed Troll Patrols are even harder to understand.
Can we find a fairy-tale billy goat to chase the whole lot of them back under the bridge, apps and all?
Supportive vibes from the panicky puma. I am on self-appointed Troll Patrol so I guess I'm a troll myself, by those definitions above. I generally tag salespeople, scammers, spammers, but what do I know? I can't read the digital hive-mind so to some, those posts are probably no problem. No prob? No idea.
Sonmetimes (?) People tend to react on DS as they would on a face-snap-insat-whatever site, during a politicized bot-fueled something, IMHO, so I try to remember I'm here like it's therapy and not like it's a chance to do a punching bag routine on someone.
My understanding is that trawling (as in fishing) is pronounced the same as "troll"-ing (ugly behavior). Like people who say "Weary" when meaning wary or leery. Precision is a yet-to-be-found art in communication, I suspect.
Peace.
For sure it ain't the internet I was trained on in 1973 when the future smart phone experts looked at me through glazed eyes when I talked about my work. Love the term, "Digital Hive-Mind." Do you find those buzz masters on the end of a Selfie-Stick?
Sigh. . . The only thing more recalcitrant than a technophobe is a 40 year computer burn-out. Insert Melanie Safka here:
"Look what they done to my Net, Ma. It's the only thing I could do half right and it's turning out all wrong."

We have both at times...... Most people here are wonderful, generous souls who are here to give and receive support
Occasionally on a board we may trigger something in another member that can start a little board upset...... It can be hard when you don't see expressions or hear tones of voice
We also get the other element ....the people that come on in order to create havoc and upset.... hurt other people and they often come to the most vulnerable of boards.....
DS gets on top of it as soon as possible and if you think that there is someone 'playing' you can submit a report to DS and they'll take a peek for sure...... Big hug.......xo
Just because we're both word nerds, admired puma, the fisher folk distinction of Trolling vs. Trawling:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolling_(fishing)
Fisher folk I ain't, so I had to look it up. My personal river passions are not so well defined.
SunCloud, I have deep respect for the tremendous work DS does in managing this amazingly generous gift of this bold attempt at on-line psych support. It is, far and away the best I have seen to date. For sure, I don't believe the conflict I am currently experiencing is deliberate, malicious nor in need of policing. It might be as simple as my own need for a new approach to my own strictly personals. It happens.
Well, either word means "go fish", but I've usually seen "trawl" as the spelling for "going for fish", if only to avoid confusion with "trolls that live under bridges". I still use the "trawl" (Dutch origin) for "to fish", for that reason. Why confuse people worse?! Then I realized just now... oops. I'm apparently the only one who notices or cares. LOL!
You win. I lose.
Where do you want me to send your trophy?
I'll let you handle correcting the vendors and users of trolling motors. I got over 2 million search results for trolling motors. Google corrected me when I searched for trawling motors. I wasn't confused before today, but I'm still not all the way sure I'm even people. I don't even find security in security lights. . .
Is the LOL from the image of forcing me back into my troll hole? Again. . . Got a bright light to hang over my hole to complete your statement?
