Cooping Around
YAY! ! ! The boys let me have my puzzle toy back before they could take all the credit. Now I'm not sure I want to let the chickens have it, either. It's a super neat fort in there. The pushy little feather babies aren't gonna give it easy, though. They were quite reluctant to sleep in the brooding cage last night. If I had gotten the roof on the roost yesterday, I suspect they would have slept in there last night. I may be small by the human measure, but that roost is a bit cramped, even for me. Maybe I can let them have that part. Okay, okay, the nesting boxes are a bit cramped for me, too. Sigh. . .
No doubt about it. It is the best puzzle box I have ever opened. This morning finds me cursing Mother Nature for raining on my puzzle. You are even meaner than the mean boys, you fucking bitch. . .
Beehaving now. . . Working to be patient with the process.

Lol. Congratulations Arfie! I was beginning to think I might need to run down your way to grab those boys by the ear and scold them for stealing your toys..
Mother Nature doesn’t give a fig about my opinion so I can’t help you there. We’re getting drizzled here too. Which is disappointing as my new hair color is a metallic steel black and I wanted to see it in the sunlight. Then again I suppose good old Mother has to have her days of frustration and rain on someone’s parade.
Hugs & love my friend!
It turns out the fucking bitch cut me enough slack to get the roof on the roost and the pullets lured from the gypsy rigged brooding chamber to the roost before the rain started in earnest. She smacked their tail feathers with a few drops of rain to speed that process.
Testing, one, two, three. . . The roost has stayed dry so far. When the wind shifted to a northwester which was blowing in through the still unfinished nesting boxes, I left some chicken salad (wild herbs) on their roosting ramps so they wouldn't forget the way down, closed their spiffy new wind blocks and headed for the great human indoors. It is the first time I felt good about leaving them to weather a storm on their own.
If I am translating correctly, I believe the pullets are chirping, "It's about fucking time it got here! ! ! You are dismissed, valued servant."
So far so good on the rain test and it was a pretty good test. When I opened the wind block to sneak a peek, I believe I heard one of them ask amid the protests of letting the wind in, "Hey! Where's the big screen TV?" Sorry, pet. Your big screen is too small for the human eye to trifle with.
The internet source agrees with my sense that the squall will be clearing out shortly. Next step up are nesting boxes and predator guards. Yea, I'm dreaming of helping our marginalized birds of prey, like that big, white owl, but Nature's way is based on balance. Even dinner deserves a comfortable chance at life. So Arfeth the Arf. . .
Was it the chicken and the egg, or the egg and the chicken? Thats my puzzle
I’m glad Mother Nature was at least kind to her children today enough to allow you to get up the roof and protection for the feathered ones.
She was less than pleasant up our way, and I can’t help but wonder if my hubs is picking fights with the storm gods again or at least someone must be.
Hugs & love my friend and excellent work.
Oh yay! The puzzle box is here!! Well schucks that was a long wait but I bet the chickens are so happy that they might even be willing to let you hang out in there from time to time if they go to exercise in the yard for a stroll between layings. Lol triple hugs of hoping you have fun
