Convincing the neighbors that I'm nuts, lol.
FIRE.
Since I live at the edge of the Black Hills, fire is always a concern... especially this year because the pine beetles have eaten so much of the forest. Yesterday, it got a little scary.... smoke was so heavy that I thought the peak on the other side of town was on fire.... but it wasn't. The fire is 11 miles away and still way too close. All I thought about yesterday was Colorado Springs and how fast that swept through.
And at 5pm yesterday, friend 17 miles in the other direction posted on Facebook that they were seeing ash and that it was SO smoky there they had trouble breathing when they went outside... and minutes later, a customer came in and said a canyon there was on fire too....
As I pulled into my driveway at 6pm, it was snowing.... ASH. I kept thinking that one of these flakes was going to be hot... so I thought that getting the roof wet MIGHT just be an extra precaution... so I immediately went out with the hose and a ladder, and in my work clothes (dress clothes, lol) I watered down the roof, then went to the front of the house, watered down the trees and the lilac bush that are snug up against the house... and then thought how dangerous my MONSTER tree is since it's practically sitting on the roof, so still in my dress clothes, I pulled out my hand saw and started pruning. One neighbor couldn't stand his curiousity, lol, and came over and asked where the fire was, what I was doing, lol... and when I told him, he thought about doing the same as me, so I'm not so crazy in his eyes, lol. But he was too lazy to do it, lol. So yep, I'm the only crazy one in the neighborhood!
And it was just killing my problem neighbor next door - which is making me grin because I love just driving him crazy, lol. He WANTS to ask... he KNOWS I know what's going on because I mountain bike and keep up to this stuff, but he also KNOWS that I won't talk to him, lol. So yesterday, as I was watering EVERYTHING, their whole family had to use their hot tub.... except that my sunflower fence is now 6 feet tall and I could see them trying to pretend that they were only out there for the hot tub while STRAINING their heads around trying to look over the flowers.... I know, I'm bad... (GRINNING!)

ROFLMAO Thank you so much for the laugh about your kooky neighbors. I really needed that laugh this morning. Yes, I would have been out wetting down my roof too. The fires out there are really bad and I hope they get them under control soon.
I live in a very dry rural area. We\'re in a five year drought. My neighbor let a fire get away from him and he wasn\'t home. I had to call the fire dept. There is a 400 acre turkey preserve across the road so I\'m very aware of a lot of smoke and the danger of fire.
LOL :-0)
Loving the nieghboors reaction. You are so funny. I hope that everything is still ok. Fire is a scary thing.
Everything is under control today!!! And no smoke either, which of course make me look more crazy! :P
