continued......
One day at a time. I'm really getting better at now at not projecting or trying to guess what will happen next. I'm also so much aware of the eerie "coincidences" that keep happening in my life. I know that they've probably happened all throughout my life but now.... it either seems to be happening more or, like I said, I'm just more in tune to them than previously.
Case in point ~ yesterday I went up to the Art Gallery/Shop/studio place I teach, and where my husband and I also volunteer, to help with a really amazing and fun fundraising event for this non-profit organization. When I walked in the room I was to help in I introduced myself and to two woman there. One gasped. She was so taken back and then blurted "YOU ARE AN ANGEL"! She said she was going to call me that day and there I was. She went on to explain that she has a nephew, 18, that's struggling with an addiction. She said she has taken on the surrogate parenting role for him ~ because his family can't take him anymore. Anyway, she starts tearing up and I hug her. She and I have a mutual friend who told her about my advocacy work. She wanted some information from me, but mainly just wanted to share. As we are chatting, I was very much aware of the other woman in the room. She is the mother of T's girlfriend. Her parents had heard through the grapevine last year when our parent program was announced by the high school principal. He attached our name to the email blast. That's when the parents found out that T was the reason for our program. T was very upset (we told him we'd keep our name out of it but the principal apparently didn't know it was our wish) Anyway, T told us that their daughter wasn't allowed to date T. I felt badly because he was in recovery at the time. Currently the two of them are still dating and I was told the parents know. I got a cold shoulder from the dad when he entered the room we were working in. He doesn't know me but it was rather awkward when there were only 4 in the room we were working in. Anyway, it isn't like we're in cahoots with T and his girlfriend. T even keeps her from us. She pulls up in a Mercedes to pick him up and that's all we see of her. In the past year we only met her twice. Her family is rather well-off - dad a surgeon and appears to be full of himself. I understand why her parents are upset and will not "allow" their daughter to date him. But does he have to be rude?
Anyway 700 people are expected tonight ~ a great distraction. In addition, my husband has been the managing coordinator for the renovation of a donated century home that's been sitting on the property for over 20 years. It's not quite finished but it's far enough along to be able to host the silent auction. I was up there all day today with lots of nice, fun people decorating for the event. Need this now because T didn't come home until after 9:30 AM. I checked on-line to see when the last time he used his cell and it read 5:30 AM. Lots of cell calls.
Wonder if he's going to tell us about the court date or arrange for a friend to take him, without telling us. If that's the case, it would be interesting to see how he will explain himself. Not projecting and worrying about the details. Now only curious.
