"If it looks too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true." ~Anon
Was it High School where I first bumped into those words? I honestly donae know and care even less, but I remember thinking something to the effect of, "The very words I was looking for." I desperately needed a functional summary for the fantasy productions of the sexual predators who seemed to find me wherever I went. My favorite part of old age is being unattractive to the sexual predators of both genders. My hard-earned wrinkles have given ever more strength to My Evil Eye. I can clear an entire cosmetic aisle of its painted predators with a single, chuckling eye-roll. Not to worry, my dears. I seldom invade your territory, but I lost my tweezers --again!
A throat swab revealed the strep virus in Big Bro's throat. He wasnae anywhere near sick enough to regret the doctor's orders that he stay home for the rest of yesterday and today, as well. He spent most of yesterday afternoon fiddling on his school website in Gampy's office while Gampy worked the Robocop (internet security) gig he has yet to retire and/or get fired from. His corporate office has been remarkably tolerant of the chaos which has been storming our lives since June.
Gampy, too, understands that anxiety of our new house feeling too good to be true. Do we really get to relax and *just bee*? That light at the end of the tunnel has *got to be* a fast-moving train. INCOMING! ! ! BATTON THE HATCHES! ! !
Again I wish for the rapid cycling icon and settle for the median. Plying hyper-vigilance therapy tools. Even if that light really is a fast moving train, panic willnae help the emergency response maneuvers. 'Tis good to be watchful, but easy on the "Hyper."
Letting Old Gnarly lead the dance.

Ha! Once again, arfie, you give words to a private thought that I, too, have had yet had not articulated: "My favorite part of old age is being unattractive to the sexual predators of both genders." I suspect, in fact, that an added layer to that for me was literally my weight, which I have shed now for health reasons and not cosmetic purposes. Those of us who have been preyed upon by sexual predators know what you're talking about here.
Hope you enjoy the new house's newness as best you can. Like all things, it won't be new forever--as George Harrison said, "all things must pass." All we can do is just bee.
Is it possible to have a new room in a new house? The 19 chicks --I reckon we should be calling them "Pullets" here in their 9th week of life-- spent last night in their brooding cage, tucked underneath the brand new porch deck. The older hens and rooster were already in place to give them a hard time when I opened the door to give them access to the big, scary world. They werenae much daunted by the flock politics in their youthful drive for sustenance. I put out a couple of extra feed piles and set to work reclaiming the "Chick Room." I believe the Bad Housekeeping limits of the new house have been thoroughly tested.
The screen window of the Chick Room has been replaced. No more free access. Sorry, ladies, but you are quite literally shitty roommates. Prayers in progress that you can find peace in being the best yard ornaments, EVER! ! ! Wanna trade some chicken feed for some of those colorful eggs you are bred for?
Yea, Muji, the most senseless traumas of my life all started with, "Your such a pretty girl."
And you want me to be Young at Heart? Kiss my cig butt, jerk off. I *likes* being old and gnarly.
Arfie-
Yes-maybe now that everything is settled-you can get back to the chicken matters you were working on before. Sorry to here Big Bro has strep. That's no fun. I remember I use to get it every year when I was younger. Your doing a great job!
