Confused
I am honestly feeling super terrible right now and am not sure what to do. I'm considering taking some time off university next year to rest. However I'm worried that if I dont have enough to do, I might get even more depressed. I'm not sure how I would use up my time in a day.
Any suggestions?

I dropped out of year 12 at around March to focus on recovery, as I was only getting worse. Ive since then become much worse but I think it was due to external factors that weren't a result of leaving. I really don't know though, and your situation would be unique to my own. Id advice seeing a specialist to discuss wether or not this is a good idea for you, if you live near Melbourne message me and I could give you some names of people who could help.
Best of luck, Corey.
I eventually had to leave work. I managed to get through college, but only because I didn't take really heavy course loads. I guess it all depends on how sick you are feeling right now. If you are at that point where you feel like you are going to fall over, you should slow down. We reach a point at which we can't push any more and we have to learn to listen to our bodies at that point. I am able to cross-stitch and read on most days. Some days, I am too tired to even do that. On those days, I have to spend some time with my eyes closed, even if I'm not sleeping. I think if you decide to take a break, it would be good to dedicate the time to a spiritual journey. I know that sounds odd, but ME/CFS causes a lot of changes that require us to look at our inner world more intentionally. It is an invitation to growth on the inside even as your outside is struggling. Much love.
Hello!
I think that sooner or later we all reach the point with this illness where we have to slow down and /or stop what we're doing and evaluate our energy levels.
I went from full time to part time to weekends and then finally gave up pushing. I honestly believe that if I had listened to my body sooner, I wouldn't have gotten so very Ill with CFS at its onset.
I feel for you, I really do! You are trying to get your education! This must be so hard. I was blessed to not be sick during my school/college days with CFS. Young people have a great challange in pacing and studying and just trying get to live a normal life.
Can you try slowing down a bit right now and seeing if even small changet can help you? Maybe you wouldn't have even to take a semester off, you could just cut back? We're all different. I know you feel the pressure to succeed, but with CFS, IT kind don't of makes the rules. We can still livehappy, productive lives, but we have to realize that this illness requires payback from overdoing. See if you can slow down a bit now. Rest more. Curtail some of the more strenuous physical stuff and take the road less traveled. Slow down and see if it helps! Sooner or later you will HAVE to if you don't start doing some changing now!
We've all been there. We understand the pain and the confusion. You can do this. We are here to help you along!
Wow, I really feel for you. You are at that point where decisions have to be made. I tried to work & pushed myself until I just couldn't go anymore. My employers were really kind & tried to help me but it got to the point where I was coming to work & leaving a few hours later so I could sleep. When I would sleep it didn't help & I would wake up exhausted. Now I don't work & pace myself so I have a sedentary life but I do enjoy my life. Can you take courses online for a while? Working at your own pace would help you a lot. Can you reduce the pace at which you are going, take half the amount of classes or something, even just take one class? Only you know how much energy you have & how fatigued you are. Just know that pushing doesn't work with this illness, you will use up everything you have & your body won't recoup the losses. Keep us posted on what you decide. I wish you the best, many gentle hugs, Denise
