complicated

Things have been very complicated lately. Two weeks after the wedding my father in law lost his battle with PSP a devastating disease. Burials and everything that has to do with that is not easy, but the family managed to stay close together which it was nice to see.

We are still waiting for any word about the house, insurance company has yet to answer us. We have a mediator working on our case and even he has no answer yet. We finished the estimate for the property lost and we will be sending it to the company this afternoon. In the meantime, we received a paper from the city of NY telling us how much the home was value before the storm: $145,000 and after:$7,000. The home right now is just a skeleton every wall, floor , everything had to be remove and it looks like a shell inside. No matter how much I try every time I go in the house I cry. I'm very emotional about it. Meanwhile the bank is threathing foreclosure. We have given the bank the info about the flood insurance and they said they wouldn't foreclose the home, but we are tired of talking to a bank that says one thing and then you have to repeat yourself to 10 different people. Why would we pay for a home that is not livable? My neighbors are sleeping on tents and the few of them who have insurance have yet to hear from them. I feel good in this apt, and we are blessed we got this apt fast and we have a safe place to be, but we simply can't afford to pay for this apt and the mortgage. We don't know what is going to happen. If worst comes to worst I guess the home will be foreclosure. Is not a house, is a pile of wood!!!

My daughter and I continue speaking everyday, am upset because she quit college but have to admit is doing well in her job and I see her ....that is the thing I can see her. She has new friends
and seems happy. Pays for her apt and supports herself. She says she was too miserable in college and she couldn't take it anymore. I'm dissapointed . I try to encourage her to go back, she is young (21) and I hope she does goes back. But our relationship has gotten better.

And then is cold around here for me 28 degrees is cold...I hate it! I think both of us hate this cold. Al bought himself a hat and he looks very nice in it. We both look outside every morning and grunt!

It\'s good to hear from you. I wish your news was better for you and Al. All you can do is your best and I know how you hate that the fate of your finances is in someone else\'s hands.

Condolences on the death of your father in law. Your family stayed close for the funeral.

I hope you get some relief on your damaged house. This has gone way too long.

It\'s good to hear from you even though you are having such a difficult time of it. Look at it this way, though: you two have EACH OTHER and that\'s what\'s most important!
Glad to hear that your daughter is doing well. You know, having a college degree these days doesn\'t guarantee a good job. There are just as many college graduates out there looking for work as those who got out of high school and took jobs. If she is happy and not carrying a lot of stress, that\'s a blessing. She can always go back to school or go part-time while she works.

Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. xoxox
