Compliance
That word still triggers my stubborn streak. My favorite part of smoking is it offends most of the folks I would prefer to never spend time with. Yes, Mother. You already know you are the shining start of *that* list. I wasnae yet smoking when you made me memorize the 1964 Surgeon General's Report. All hail The General. I was eager to blow smoke in her face at every opportunity by the time I fled hysterically from her nest at 16 years of age. I still canae bear the thought of her pleasure at my joining the Quitter's Corps.
But my son's in-laws are playing the anti-smoking card to the hilt in the State CPS investigations. Yaddah blah. Blah yaddah. Decent folk everywhere are on their side in regard to the issue. The prohibition is on. . .
The caseworker who busted me smoking in the house last month is due to visit again tomorrow morning. Hubs is worried that she willnae settle for less than the full banishment. Can I still smoke within 20 foot of the door? Or is that 25? Just give me numbers I can work with, Ma'am/Sir.
For now, the strategy is simple compliance and distraction. I will miss tomorrow's appointment --busy, busy, busy-- and let my smoking compliant husband handle the interview and perform the sniff tests to see if I have managed to remove all traces of the deadly odors.
Venting. . . Saluting with the middle finger. . . Hoping Mama is proud to have been granted her leadership role at last.

Since you have moved to the new house, it would seem to me that the old one has become a safe smoking zone. Just a thought. Support and prayers.
screw in laws and cps...as far as i know there are no "laws" outside of "your home"..it's the 'second hand' smoke that is the culprit as far as new laws go....wonder if you'll be able to take a *hit, that smells and has 'fumes' too, if the light a match theory is correct...
The old house is a tenth of a mile away. Too far for my strictly personal childcare conscience.
You are quite wrong about the legal limits of this case, ML. It is a STATE investigation concerning the safety of children entrapped in a custody dispute. You've heard all the expostulations on second-hand smoke, et al.
And again I wonder if I really want to step into the domestic snare again, for any price. That trap hasnae gotten less restrictive. Housewoofery is the hardest "Not Working" this bum has ever done, even without the still escalating government control of family. This time I donae even have the hopes of a life after parenting. I.F. I live that long, I will be 82 when this baby graduates HS. Why the fuck am I fighting the morbidly obese non-smokers for their welfare checks? Let 'em keep their payday. I'd rather be a river rat. I smoke far less when I am away from humans and their stinking laws.
Fuck a mother duck. . . A non-smoking one, of course.
Well doing the "Saluting" at life insanity....sorry you are having such a painful time jumping through the hoops of red tape with cps and inlaws...continuing Prayers For Your's and All's Highest Good
