Comparisons
Comparisons...you all do them I am sure.
But not like myself, I am hoping?
I have this habit of comparing myself to other men...I do it constantly, nonstop, I cannot see a man without doing it. In doing so, I wish I had their looks, their features, well what the H---!! "Any" features but my own!
I loathe myself, always have, guess now, forever will. Yeah, I am in counseling again...with their whole "accept, Cope, and refocus" BS.
It is like this, as I interpret it, regarding my body:
"Yeah, you could have the attractive, shiny, muscular, fast, bright, high performance Maserati. But accept the fact that you have a total and complete "clunker" which cannot be repaired, fixed, or replaced. So be grateful!"........wow! I feel better:( NOT!

I READ THIS AND I FEEL WE HAVE MADE NO PROGRESS AT ALL, AND I COULD IF I COULD. I HAVE STOOD WHERE YOU ARE STANDING, FOR SO MANY YEARS. MAYBE THAT MIGHT BE THE SOLUTION. ALL THOSE YEARS OF PAIN AND SUFFERING. NOW I AM FREE. BUT IT TOOK SEVERAL DRS. AND MANY MEDS TO GET ME THIS WAY. THERE ARE THINGS I STILL DON\'T LIKE, BUT AT MY AGE I AM ACCEPTING THEM. SOME DAYS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN OTHERS, BUT I JUST KEEP GOING. I HOPE AND PRAY YOU WILL GET OVER IT (YOURSELF) ONE DAY.
I LOVE YOU, NO MATTER HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF
I used to compare myself to others all the time. I too had the....Grass is always greener on the other side mentality. My self esteem was negligible as was my relationships because I didn\'t feel I was at all in the same league as others....why would they want to be my friend...right?
Well, after learning to change the way I thought (which is not difficult but does take a little effort) and taking some time and really work on the 12 Weeks. Magically my brain no longer had that inferiority feeling anymore. Funny thing but with my new found confidence...I have more amazing relationships that I have ever had in my life.
I only turned this whole thing around a few years ago and I am 51 years old. So don\'t give up....brain plasticity can happen at any age research now shows. You do not have to live this way...I am living proof. Week three will give you the power you need to change your brain...forever!
My best to you!!!
I do that all the time, and many times it holds me back from doing stuff that I really want to - but I have been this way long b4 the panic attacks and agoraphobia - think it\'s just the way I\'m wired
Well I started lifting with my buddy at 10 years old and I\'ve NEVER been completely happy BUT I know now that staying in-shape isn\'t about how you look but how you feel! I was like you once beating myself up because this dude had bigger arms and that dude benched more BUT after all these years I\'m still standing while most of them are fat slobs now! Trust me looks and muscles fade FAST! I no longer compare myself to anyone and it\'s like a huge weight off my shoulders! I compare myself to MYSELF! I try to do one extra rep or add 5 extras pounds to the bar. There will ALWAYS be someone that has something better so it\'s a war that can never be won by anyone on the planet! Brad Pitt may look better then me but I\'d kick his ass playing COD!!! HAHA!
Ok, guy!! yes, you know what\'s coming.....(slap up side the head!!!) ............ stop it!!!! Be yourself!!!! Not someone else!!!!
In truth... I felt my most peaceful and grounded when on the land... There were no expectations from society present when I was in lodge or working Grandpa... I was... I was... Now, I am... How I would love to lay before fire and let my feet bury themselves in soil... It brought me back to being time after time...
