Luke 4:38-41 (NLT)

"After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon's home, where he found simon's mother-in-law sick with a high fever. 'Please heal her,' everyone begged.  (39) Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her.  And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them. (40) As the suns went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus.  No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed everyone. (41) Many were possessed by demons; and the demons came out at his command, shouting, "You are the Son of God!"  But because they knew he was the Messiah, he rebuked them and refused to let them speak."  

The same account in Matthew:

Mattew 8:14-17 (NLT)

When Jesus arrived at Peter's house, Peter's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever.  (15) But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her.  Then she got up and prepared a meal for him. (16) That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus.  He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick.  (17) This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, 'He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases."  

What passage is Matthew referencing from Isaiah here?  

Isaiah 53:4  (Amplified Version) "Surely He hath born our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [ofpunishment] yet, we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and aflicted by God [as if with leprosy]."  

If you look Isaiah 53:4 up in a Hebrew Lexicon, it shows you that the words "griefs" and "sorrows" are literally translated as "sicknesses" and "pain."  Here is a link to a Lexicon so you can see it for yourself:

Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would bear our sicknessess and pain, and then that prophecy came to fruition in the gospels.  Jesus was able to heal because He bore healing in His body, just as He was able to forgive because He shed His blood.  His payment  reversed the curse of sickness and condemnation which were both a consequence of sin.

Maybe in a future journal I will give my own testimony about how God is healing me.  I was once bedridden and getting sicker all the time, until I got ahold of these teachings and I have come so far.  I have still have a long way to go, but I am getting more and more healed all the time.
