coming together
Good productive weekend. My eldest son, who is proficient at slide/music shows was home this weekend and put my plan into "action". It turned out awesome and on Saturday morning guess who sent his photo with an apology? He sent it just in time, thankfully. He said he will also do whatever I would like him to do, including send an email blast to the high school. He also said he plans to attend both presentations. I feel better because it didn't make sense to me. I guess where all this angst came from is ... years back when my middle son went through his "hell" with his depression, I emailed the principal on a Saturday asking about getting a 504 plan for him so that I didn't have to "fight" with the teachers. And do you know he called me the next morning (a Sunday) and told me that it wasn't necessary - that they would work with us. Well - that did NOT happen! In not too long after that, a teacher emailed me and complained to me that my son (who had been released from the hospital only 2 weeks prior) isn't trying. She said that all he does is doodle (I found the papers he was doodling on months later and written all over them was "I'm so sad") and that she didn't like his attitude. The clincher was it's a privilege to receive her from her and that he wasn't "choosing" to take advantage of that, than there is nothing she can do about it. I didn't know how to respond to that then because I was stressing out about his situation and worried about him. I also didn't know enough about depression or that it takes awhile for the medicine to work (if it's the right one). She claimed she knows all about depression because her grandmother had it - her grandmother tallked to herself. Huh? So I guess my resentment stems back to the quick response I got from him then and it wasn't a good one. My hubby and I are still making changes and it's making me crazy. We still haven't really practiced it. We'll get there! All the other details are coming together!
