Coming down to the wire

Aloha
We have gone back and forth to Maui several times to look at rentals. It was very frustrating trying to nail something down. Every place we saw had a weird catch to it, this is why you can't just rent something based on an ad on the internet without seeing it in person. Seriously. I can tell you some crazy weird stories about these places we saw that said nothing about it in the ad. For example, it would have been nice if a couple of them said, "Warning: crazy steep driveway!" or "Side note: landlord going through bad divorce will be living in master bedroom, just pretend he's not there."
We finally settled on a place after much "discussion" back and forth between hubby and I because this one is a house share with the landlord. Because after I firmly rejected it, he called back a couple days later with another offer (since he didn't like the other prospective renters) and told us he would only be living in the master room (this is a different guy than the one I mentioned above) until he finishes the cottage in the back. And if he doesn't end up moving out, obviously, we won't be staying. lol
So... it's settled. I'm moving on Monday the 16th and hubby plans on moving around the 23rd. He has finals this week and then he will be sticking around to clean up the unit after I'm gone. I honestly don't trust his cleaning skills but at this point I don't care because I'm not sure my body will take much more anyway (or be able to clean). I may send over someone from the church to help him.
I'm trying to cram as much as possible in these last few days I have left. Between sorting things and saying goodbye to people. I'm getting to the point of telling folks if you want to say goodbye, come by and help me do a few things while you're at it! My aches / pains and tiredness increases with each day because I'm not giving myself any breaks and have not for sometime now since the funerals and then starting the new claim with the VA for the assaults back when I was in the service. I feel like when I get to Maui maybe then I'll rest.
Music group is having a going away thing for me today. I think I will miss them the most besides the church on the west side (my old church) whose pastor we said goodbye to yesterday because they too are moving away. So even if I come back for visits their family won't be there. It won't be the same.
And in bad timing our cats were having health issues. One cat, Hershey was getting picky with food and having trouble going to the litter box. When she dis she'd end up going outside of it, but her stools were so hard and dry, it's not like it was a mess. It was still a concern to me, because I had switched her to wet food only, and then added benefiber to it and a sprinkle of water and she would still have bad days. The vet found protein in her urine the other day, but it dated back to 2015 and nobody notified me. I was totally pissed. Good thing her tests came back normal this time. But she still needs anti-anxiety meds for the move after the recent dog attack.
The other cat, Silver, has been vomiting which is nothing new actually, but now it's 2x a day PLUS diarrhea. The vet suspects he might have inflammatory bowel disease. Like I said bad timing because she said she can't get a radiologist out here for another week or 2 (where is he coming from??) and she doesn't think there is one on Maui. Oh great! So I told hubby he might have to take care of that.
In the meantime, our current landlord is being an evil sneaky grouch. He continues to play games with us about scheduling / canceling / rescheduling showings for our unit, and especially trying to show it on-the-spot without prior notice (and then being an a-hole about it when I reject it). I say sneaky because we have reason to believe he may be showing or letting himself in without our permission possibly when we aren't home. He also never fixed the leaky shower which leaks into the livingroom and water from the outside leaks IN when it rains. So now nasty little critters are trying to take over our shower / bathroom (worms, little frogs etc). But this evil scum is trying to find ways to hold our deposit. He's going as far as complaining that he can't rent it because of US!!! EVIL LYING SCUM! If he can't rent it, it's HIS fault for not properly maintaining the unit or even caring for basic health and safety concerns. We should have called the health dept on him. Maybe it's not too late??
My older brother flew out to overseas a couple of days ago. I think to get closure with our estranged father. He had a stroke about a week after he contacted us on FB. And our emails blew up from our relatives about needing money for him for his care, etc. They are in a foreign country and if you dont' have money up front they will let you die. So we've been dealing with these emails since. I have been trying to tell everyone to leave me alone. I don't have time or mental space to deal with it. But my older brother decided it was his responsibility to do something? There was also talk about needing to put him in a nursing home and who was going to pay for that. I think everyone can go pound salt. Not to sound cold hearted, but it's not my responsibility to pay for his needs. My uncles and aunts have the resources to do that, they are retired doctors and scientists. I'm on VA disability. No thanks.
Well... once again... it was long...
Hope everyone had a really blessed Mother's Day! You are true heroes! God bless everyone! Take care!

Forgot to mention... my mom had her 1st knee surgery and is trying to get back on her feet now. One surgery down, one knee to go. She calls me like 10x a day freaking out about SOMETHING. \"OMG! I\'m in so much pain!\" or \"OMG! My back is killing me! What if I\'m suck this way?! What if I never make it to Hawaii?!\" and so on.
On another note, my SIL, took the child and left my youngest brother AGAIN (just like I predicted). This time she has filed a (false) report of chronic abuse against my brother (that he beats her up) and got a protective order against him. She is filing for full custody. In her protective order, she states that if my brother wants to visit his son, he has to have police escort or something like that?!?! She is friggin insane! Especially since it was she who attacked my brother in his sleep and left him with a concussion. And my poor mom... she is trying to focus on healing but my SIL\'s parents keep ringing her phone off the hook trying to keep tabs on her. She needs to block thier number. SMH.

Or, y\'know, you could just put all you absolutely need in a backpack and the heck with it? Just vanish to a quiet spot in, say, Virginia? Wow, too much. What is the SIL thing anyway? Yours, mine, I tell ya...

Big big hugs.

you have so much on your plate for sure! But each day one thing will be checked off, and it\'ll be quiet and peaceful by the time you get settled in your new home. Congrats on that! many hugs xo

Thank you everyone. I appreciate the support from my DS friends here. Lovely people!
Update: Found out the animal hospital that\'s not far from where we will be living in Maui has their own radiology. So I don\'t have to worry about cramming that in anymore. Besides, I don\'t think I have the time.

Going to see my PCP today, she is wrapping up everything at the VA here and then will refer me to the Maui clinic.

God bless, everyone!
