combating the pain
I just posted this as a response to someone but I think it is a good journal entry for me today. Here it is.
"With DDay being only 4 wks ago I am still feeling so much pain and turmoil a lot of the time. Today was no exception. I cried a lot and sometimes the pain was so intense and then it would ease. I decided today to say the Jesus prayer repeatedly every time the pain was bad and repeat it until it eased. The prayer is this. "Oh Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." Some times I substitute someones name that I am thinking of for the last 3 words. "Have mercy on (name). It is a good and complete prayer because mercy means love in action so you are asking God to take loving action on yourself or someone else with each repetition of the prayer. Doing that really really helped me a lot today and I will continue to do this to help combat my pain."
