Colon Cancer

I went to the gastroenterologist today. He told me that the biopsy results came back and I have colon cancer. He said that it's in the juncture between the anus and the rectum. He said that the colonoscopy didn't show a complete enough picture so he wants me to get a pelvic MRI. He said the ct scan didn't show spread to other organs but that it doesn't show lymph nodes that are in the rectal area. Also the colonoscopy and ct scan don't show whether the tumor could have infiltrated further into the bowel wall. He said said the radiologists will decided whether my tumor requires radiation and chemotherapy to shrink it before surgery. That if I did have to have chemotherapy and radiation that it would take six weeks. I'd have to go to another city an hour and a half away. He said surgery would involve cutting out the cancerous portion of the colon and reattaching the two remaining ends. If the tumor has spread farther up I'd have to get an colostomy bag for a while until I heal then it would be reversed. He also asked if I was planning on having more children because scar tissue would form around my fallopian tubes making it harder to get pregnant. I can't get the MRI soon enough!
