COINCIDENCE ???????

Six years before Ryan died, we left his father and I forgot to take our family pictures with us, it was making me sad that I didn’t  have them, several times I  ask Ryan to ask his father if he would find the pictures, his father was so angry at me that he  said “ I don’t know where they are “, So as time went on I had a sick feeling inside me, that he may of thrown them out by mistake, Now Ryan dies, six years later, we had to plan his funeral, the funeral director asked me where  I wanted to scatter his ashes,” well I said, we loved the ocean, let’s do it down to the beach,” Then he wanted to know what part of the beach, he said the beach Street numbers  start from 1 thru 19, so I said how about across from 15th Street, cause he died on the 15th  of April  2006, So  that day we all gathered around 15th Street  standing at the sea wall overlooking the ocean. The funeral  director  show’s  up with a box with Ryan’s  ashes in it, my heart was broken to know his beautiful body was  gone, but with all the support from family and friends helped me get through it, now we  noticed there wasn’t  a stairway across from 15th Street, to get down onto the beach, the  funeral director looked  over at 17th Street, than over to 16th  Street, he decided to go to 16th Street, so we all followed him, we all walked down the stairs onto the beach, and Ryan’s Girlfriend Sarah said “ OH  MY GOD “,  Kelly look behind you “ I turned around and looked at the sea wall, in big letters there was  Ryan’s initials spray painted , with bright neon pink lettering,  (RSR  - ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG – REST IN PEACE – I LOVE YOU   PROMISE   (- 8-8-87   to   4-15-06) Sarah said her girlfriend and her went down a couple nights before, and spray painted it, and she didn’t know that would be the spot of his scattering.  So we had the scattering, it really was a peaceful feeling, believe it or not, now we go home, I asked Ryan’s father if he would please find our family pictures, he called me that same day, and said he found them,  he would be right over with them. When he got here we sat down to look at them, I came across this picture of Ryan (5yrs old) and Erica (1yr old).  They were sitting on a square rock, at the beach, behind them was the beach wall, above the wall, I could only see the roof of a house, I said “OH MY GOD, I wonder if this is where the scattering was”?  So the next day I took that picture down to the beach to see if the picture was taken in the same spot of the scattering, all the houses were all pretty much renovated, it had  been 14 yrs. since the picture was taken, all of a sudden I saw this house that wasn’t done over, I stopped the car, looked at the picture, it was the same exacted original  house, the roof was identical to the picture, I looked down at the Street number, I said “OH MY GOD” it was 16th Street.  Now we were suppose to scatter him across from 15th Street, the funeral director pick 16th Street instead, because there was no opening across from 15th Street, Ryan’s girlfriend spray painted the writing on the sea wall, and I found the picture  from 14yrs  ago,  in the same spot that we had  Ryan’s scattering.  It is a Coincidence  that I’ll never forget.

That is a wonderful story, I am so pleased you shared it with us. The knowledge that these \'coincidences\' happen gives me a feeling of hope somehow... a belief that there is a reason for things when I find myself doubting and wondering why. To me this story says that some things are \'meant to be\'.
I see that Ryan shares his birthday with Frazer, but Frazer was not born until 7 years later on 8-8-94. (Coincidently my daughter was born in 1987). So many people said the 8-8 was lucky. Since he died last year (5.25.08) I have wondered about that \'luck\' especially as he was planning to have a special birthday party for 08-08-08 since it fell on a Saturday. Big hugs, Charlotte.

I am so grateful that Your son\'s father saved those precious pictures and brought them to you. You made the child together and that bond is always there even after the love is gone. The anger and all goes away eventually too. You are seeing these things thes little signs to help guide you through this awful dark grief. Bless you Peggy

I had a coincidence somewhat like this but in reverse. My son was killed in a car wreck in July of 2005. He was ejected from a vehicle when it rolled and he died of massive internal injuries. After the funeral and, after I could handle it, I went to the crash site where he died. I had ridden my Harley to this site and I parked it up the hill, facing down towards the crash site. The marks on the tree were still visible where the explorer came to rest in the treeline, upside down. I sat my helmet on a stump and walked up the hill and turned and faced the site and took some pictures. I walked around, found pieces of broken glass, a turn signal bulb, etc. I then got on my motorcycle and left, after spending some solemn moments there. A few days later, I found out that my son had skidded across the road, after being ejected from the vehicle.
The massive internal injuries he died from were caused by a stump that he hit with his left side. It was the same stump I had sat my helmet on and took pictures of. I have never forgotten that either. I am very sorry about the loss of your son. I know how your feel. My son was 37 when he died.

God Bless

I saw your avatar in Never give up.

This journal title drew my attention.
I must say, I am sobbing right now.
I grieve for the loss of your son.
I celebrate his life.

I lost both of my sons from a dysfunctional family environment.
They were always close to me.
Now, when I need them the most, they have bonded with their formerly abusive father.
The men that they are now, are ghosts of what they used to be to me.

There has been a recent family situation that caused me great pain.
I was in a strong downward decline filled with pain and despair.
I made up my mind to come to Ds for solace and comfort.
I struggle to make sense of how things turned out with my sons.

Your story helped to remind me that perhaps there is a method to this madness.
Maybe there is a reason for all of this turmoil and pain.
I suppose it is a life lesson for me if I allow it to be so.

Reading your story also reminded me that maybe I am not as alone as I think I am.
If this is part of my life plan, then so be it. It is as it should be.

Thank you.
You son\'s life has touched yet another in a positive way.
