Clothing
I was on TANF and in the Aspire program, but I got hired at the Dollar Tree, and they dropped me. There was a clothing allowance that I never got to get, and I have very little in the way of clothes that fit (and are fit to work in). Well, we have a thrift shop down the road, and they have some good bargains, and I've found some stuff there, but I need so much more. Since the last time I worked a "real job", you knoww, in my line, I've lost over 60 lbs. All my professional clothes are way too big now, so I need to replace all of it. At the thrift shop, they had sewing patterns for $.10 each, and alot of things in my new size. So, I've started sewing things. I finished 3 skirts so far, and wore one of them to Thanksgiving with my daughter, who told me that it was too long, and probably made with curtain material. I made a pair of flannel lined pants for my girl, and she started screaming that they were ugly, the wrong color, and she'd never wear them. I'm going to donate them to the charity shop. This makes me sad, because I spent all morning on them and they came out perfect. I like my new job, but it doesn't pay well. I also don't have alot of hours, so the paycheck is going to be just about what I ws getting from TANF, which isn't much. If they don't increase the hours, I'll have to look for another job with regular hours. Hard to do when you feel bad most of the time. I'm tired of the girl yelling at me all the time, but I don't know how to get her to stop. I try to make her happy, but it's hard when you are this poor and what she thinks will make her happy is buying her all kinds of expensive things, which I can't do. Tired of feeling sorry for myself, as well.
