Closing the Door on Past Mistakes

I am going to say, "Today is a fresh new day, and it is ours.  A day of happy beginnings."  That is how my wedding invitation began, but I am not going to lose hope.  Even though life has its challenges, and yes I might not have the right partner, and no, I might not be in love, at my age I may never meet the right partner, and at this stage of the game, I would just say, I am looking for friends and support, but I can accept that it was never God's will for me to have a happy, fulfilling marriage and children and family.  Why it was not God's will is not for me to know or to understand.  It is only for me to accept.  I can accept God's will for my life, and go on with my life with a positive attitude, looking forward to the future with hope for God's blessings.  We do not know what tomorrow may bring.  We may inherit some money, and relocate and do our best to enjoy our retirement years.  We might win the lottery or a sweepstakes.  We might just find a good part time job to keep busy during these lonely years.  We may get the strength to exercise and diet and learn to take better care of ourselves.  We do not know in what form He will show up to offer His blessings to us.  But we have to stay open to life's blessings, as well as do our best to cope with life's challenges.  Many people stay single their entire lives and never marry and never have children.  At least I tried my best to find someone.  We may not be compatible.  But at this stage of the game, what is the big loss?  Retired people do not have to have hot and heavy sex lives in order to be happy.  And many people who are married with children, still are not happily married.  The divorce statistics are very high to say that married life is not necessarily a happy life, even though others look on you as if you are happy, so you pretend that you are.  Who really is happy?  Is it the priests, and pastors who sin against the people of their congregation?  Are they really happy with their lives?  I do not know who is happy, or what happiness is, or how we are to achieve being content with "our lot in life", I just know that it has to do with accepting God's will for each of us.  If we can accept it without question, then we can cope with whatever challenges it may bring.  And coping with life's challenges is all about what adversity is about.  What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.  We just might need a smile, a hug, a kind word, a sign that a friend is near.  But we do not need to make any changes to God's plan for our lives.  God makes the plans for our lives, and we just live our lives out as He wishes for us.  As long as we have Him in our lives, read our Bible daily, go to church, we have most of all that we need.  We also need encouragement from others.  When we have that we have the recipe to cope with our life He gave to us, and that is all that He wants us to do, not to redesign ourselves or our partner, but just "let it be".

Thank you for sharing about yourself here in your journal. We have a bit in common. Thank you for the encouragement at the end of the journal. I have been married for 22 years with no children. I understand accepting God\'s will for your life. Let\'s be friends. I think we can encourage each other.

Here\'s something for you to think about:

When God closes the door, quit knocking. He did it for a reason.
He knows what\'s best for us!!!
