Closer and Closer
So close! I got a call today requesting advanced payment for my portion of the surgery. Yes, it is real!! I see the dietitian and pre-op nurse tomorrow (Friday Oct 9th) for final preparations. I'm kind of disappointed I haven't lost more weight but, truthfully speaking, if I wasn't comparing it to all those people who lost 35lbs or more during the pre-op diet phase and panicking that it may not be good enough for the dietitian I'd be pretty happy with my weight loss.
I've lost between 12 and 14lbs since starting the diet 2 weeks ago. I started at 306 and now my weight fluctuates between 292.7 and 294.8. Honestly, that's pretty darn good progress for only 2 weeks and under different circumstances I'd be thrilled. Unfortunately, that's not what the dietitian is going to see tomorrow because I gained about 7lbs between my last weigh-in and starting the pre-op diet. That's what worries me. I'm afraid she's going to see the limited weight loss and call the whole thing off. I've tracked all my food intake since the official start of the pre-op diet so I'll bring that with me to the appointment just in case I need back-up.
I'm actually really surprised at how good I feel with the limited food intake. I thought I'd be panicking and passing out from hunger and deprivation. Not so. I'm not feeling as strong as I do with more fuel in the furnace but I made it through my work rotation just fine and even worked out at the gym almost every morning after work. That to me is amazing! I also don't feel horrible cravings for things on the verboten list like I feared. I think that is the ketosis working in my favor...or maybe just my unfettered determination to succeed. Don't know which but so far so good!
