Cleaning the emotional closet

I have realized that there are things that I need to work through and have started doing some sorting through the emotional closet.  There are two things currently on the list that I need to deal with.  One is the many miscarriages and the one loss of twins that I have to deal with.  Throughout our marriage we tried many times to have a "natural" child and we were met with nothing but heartache.  We always ended up with a miscarriage by the third/fourth month.  The one time the pregnancy went beyond that we found out that we were expecting twins.  Then I was involved in a car accident that caused me to go into early labor (six months) this was several years ago and technology wasn't like it is now.  My son was stillborn, four hours after she was born my husband and I made the heart wrenching  decision to take her off of life support, a half hour after that she went to heaven with her brother.  While I have a beautiful little boy that we have adopted I still sometimes mourn for those children I lost.  I have decided to get balloons and set them loose with notes of love attached to them.  This is a pain that I need to work through but I know will never completely go away. I only named the two babies that went to the six month mark.  Robert Michael and Michelle Ileen.  Before I lost those two babies I had, had eight different miscarriages.  So I have decided that I am going to give the eight all names and since I didn't know the sex I am going to find first names that could be either or and give them to my lost children maybe then I can release a little of that pain.
The second thing I have to work through is a rape I went through before I even met my husband but I recently ran into the guy who did it and those memories have come flooding back to me after years of putting it in the back of my mind.  I thought I was ok with it and that it didn't have a part of my life any longer but after seeing him I realize that I have not dealt with it.  I'm a different person than I was then but the self disgust I feel from that one single event still lives with me.

These are what I am going to work on with my therapist over the next few months. I know that working through emotional baggage will be helpful in me losing the weight.
