Church

This is where I felt  you went to feel relief and refreshed by God. Wii after playing the piano in our small church of around 130 we have brought in someone to lea our songs. We have a band for over 4 years and so far he has gotten rid of me. He  told me I was not allowed to  do Sunday services which is the only time we do music at church  that I was not allowed on the stage on Sundays until I have practice intense with him.  I have never missed a practice he has showed up for one and cancelled it.  He proceeded to tell me that I could not play until I convinced him why I wanted. To play geez common sense only time we have music. A d I am the only one willing to play. The email was very nasty to me. He said I said things I never said. So what now. Walk away like a scared mouse of a 20 something year old kid or do I send the information  to the.pastor. The guy has hurt several others but I don't feel that I can take a stand for then. This guy has about 30more days of trial and then the pastor decides   He was om the 90 days trial the first time he brought some girl in to replace me and another girl.  After that was whe the pastor talked to him and decided another 30 days. I feel he is there to create problems which he already has. My husband says if I say anything it will look like I want to be the one playin g but there has been no noe else to play during that time and I no of no one in our church who wants to.  By the way these people are coming from a church that split our church about five years ago. No one played the piano for 3 years until I finally agreed.    Now this. What should I do be still or stand uo

I guess that is why I shy away from organized religion. I have met so many people who attend church regularly but are anything but Christian - or my idea of Christian.
The guy is on an ego trip. He can\'t stand competition.
How much longer is his probation? I think I would talk to the pastor in private. Explain to him that you have not being playing recently because the new guy said he didn\'t want you to play. Hopefully you will have a dialogue and you could mention that some of the congregation have expressed concern about his attitude. I think if he is a troublemaker, you are going to be stuck with him for longer than anybody would like. The pastor already has had qualms about him so probably wouldn\'t be too surprised.
You are absolutely correct. Church should be a place of peace and relief from the world.
Good luck. I am sure that you will make the right decision for you.
Hugs, Marlene

Sandi I don\'t know what the right thing to do is, but I really don\'t think it could hurt to talk to your pastor about the situation. It\'s so sad when there are political problems like this in a church of all places. Hope it all works out. Sending love, Terry

Maybe look into your heart and do what you feel is the right thing. I guess much as I hate it all human organizations have politics (which I am terrible at and HATE). But things that are bad for the members of the church, like this situation is for you, cannot possibly contribute to a healthy Church. IF you trust the pastor, maybe speak to him....tell him what has happened from your perspective and what your experience and concerns are....good luck whatever you decide...

You may or may not wish to continue playing the piano at church, but if this young guy is there on a trial basis, the pastor might welcome unemotional, objective feedback.

In my experience with organized religion, I have found that music, the representation of harmony in the services, can be the most disruptive, hurtful and controversial aspect of the service structure. I have seen people screaming and quitting church over music disputes! Definitely stay away from any battles that may be looming, but, as I said, the pastor might welcome your observations.

Sending love and decisive hugs of harmony ~ Debbie

Follow your heart, speak your truth and let go of the outcome. Not an easy thing to do, I know, yet very affirming when it can be done.

Please let us know how this unfolds and I\'ll be thinking of you because I can feel how important this is to you. Your playing is a gift that you give to others and in turn it feeds you.

Healing hugs,
Joanie
